That depends.....

If UK prices continue to tank, and US prices remain high, you could see them being seen as a bargain to re-import back to USA for nice ones, in a reversal of 20-25 years ago, when the exchange rate made them a bargain from USA.

Didn't Motorama mention that Mercury(?) 'nomad'/wagon he had for sale was shipped back to USA?

Probably more chance of going to France/Sweden/Germany perhaps if market is more buoyant over there, but can't rule out going back to USA for nice cars, if advert is picked up in USA via the net.
Was talking to someone this morning who is putting his Bel-air back on the boat to Florida on Friday,

He's got relatives there which must help in the process.

The one change I noticed was letters to DVLA from club officials had to be 'ink' printed and 'hand' signature - they stopped accepting emails/electronic 'post' from the club.

As I suspected.....(even though not being in full possession the facts)......it wasn't going to be as easy as the seller thought it was.

There is very little that cant be registered in my experience, we've registered many cars with little to no paperwork, i registered a 58 Buick here last year that had been here since the 90s with no title, even with no paperwork at all as long as you can prove whay they are they can be registered with a few club letters, the very very worst case scenario is having to pay a small amout of vat/duty but that rarely happens. The only thing these days is they dont like to register cars that are taken apart so the more like a complete car you make it look the better
Cheers MR
To hear that from someone who’s actively doing this stuff is comforting!
I’m actually quite sure this will happen now
Ok I may have to wait a few months, but hey I’ve been waiting for 50 years!
The seller had pulled the add, and as far as he’s concerned it’s down to me !
It’s going to be done !!

The White Vette made 37k so with buyers taxes about the same as RR’s
Would have we expected to be able to buy nice C2 roadster for 40k?
Not my area to be honest but I’d have guessed they would be worth more???

Dynacorn can do an hood and a pair of front quarters for the TA at reasonable cost, shipping is spiteful but not a catastrophe!
I’ve a large list so it’s not going to be cheap but so looking forward to the challenge!
One of things a like about the car is how unmessed with it is,
Still retains its big black gear knob etc,
Only true 70 1/2 cars had these !

Need to put the feelers out and see if anyone is bringing in a container with a car or lots of parts in the next 6-9 months.....that you can piggy-back some space in?

Yes that’s actually in hand ,
There’s a guy who lives local that years ago my brother and I used to share a workshop,
He brings in mobile homes and big o’l campers from the US
So hopefully there be a useful relationship and he can put things like a Hood and Quarters in one of these huge vehicles?

Even the 'septics are paying top money for relatively 'nothing' cars - this seemingly unremarkable '76 Vette coupe was bid-up to $19K on BaT but didn't meet reserve........OK it looks super clean (as it should for 8000 miles).......and yes, it is a, er' 'high performance' 220 hp emission era car (if that can be classed as high peformance?)

At least NaT is going to pull the plug, it's going to be an entertaining thread...
Congratulations only when the deal is sealed, but I keep my fingers crossed!

I’m surprised really, obviously I’m not in know when it comes to the cars,
So if it was a genuinely ok result and bearing buyers fees of 2-3k it made 40,
Auctions obviously work!
Bet that car would be on evil bay for weeks
With the usual “will you take a 3 dog in px”
So love em or not they do seem to shift em !

Speaking personally I couldn’t use them
But understand why people do,

And Cheers SW I’ve a good feeling about this one !!!
However
I’ll probably be too old to restore it once I actually have the thing !!!
lol

Seriously though if I find out anything this week I may have to reconsider,
So just got to be patient,
But if it’s bad the ces’t la vie
And I’ll focus elsewhere

You must have read my mind ,

I was looking for time table last night to give me some idea

when you guys were racing and avoiding the KA race but Silverstones website gave no details,

And yes you are right i was just trying to figure out how i could enlarge the time table when you posted this ,

Long way to come especially for one race but there is some sexy stuff racing and by the looks of things Silverstone is as near to me as you are going to get this year

If i get there will at least come and say hello Oneball and thanks very much for remembering and giving me this info thumbup

It looks like just maybe this is the way to go with these on-line auctions,

After my mate sold his Morris 1000 traveller for £13,250 with a £8K reserve the other week on the "Car & Classic" auction,

Not that keen on them getting paid and the buyer collecting the car first leaving you with no money or car for a brief while

untill " Car & Classic pay you

With "Collecting Cars "they take their 6% commission off the buyers credit card as soon as the auction has closed leaving the buyer

and seller to make arrangements for payment and collections between themselves giving you some form of control over the sale,

If any problems should arise over any missdescribtions " Collecting Cars" do advise buyers to view the car before bidding as they are not

responsible for that.,

Looking at what this white C2 fetched with commission my car should have made close to what i was asking for it with ease without all my

expense of trailers, hotels ,parking and all the stress i went through having the car sat there for 5 days instead of being safely tucked away in my garage

awaiting collection with no nobheads jumping in and out it opening and slamming doors and bonnets shut.

The difference between a 5 to 10 minutes that a live auction takes sometimes for some buyers isn't enough time to be put on the spot to pay the extra

money if they keep getting outbid but a 6 day auction in the comfort of your home where you will be more relaxed should be more than enough time

to make your mind up in a friendly environment where you might get auction fever once bidding and get carried away with the moment .

Maybe it wasn't first time luck with the F430 after all,Depending what car i sell next i will have to reevaluate how i go about selling that is for sure and move

with times as my old skool way didn't work for me this time . smash

Do t think I could go the auction route tbh
Yep there’s loads of messers but thats true with almost everything, however probably worse now as people don’t seem to like actually talking!

What I don’t understand is the difference now between a very desirable machine like the C2 and some wobbly 1 of 1 million notch back mustangs isn’t that great,
Given that one could spend 10grand on an old classic and have very little to show?

Restoration work is hugely expensive and even totally mundane vehicles like Said Mustang can just disappear down a very expensive black hole!

I got some prices for delivery costs last night
At least £1000 for shipping, two front quarters and a hood
And two Door skins,
Which came to £2300, then 3.5 % import duty then 20% VAT on the total
Probably a uk handing charge to,
over £4500 without thinking!

I couldn’t imagine having to pay 1000’s in labour

Those £ shipping costs are absolutely scary….
When I add up all of the invoices for the parts that my Camaro has, it’s more than Scary.
I’ve been closely following Gen 1 Camaro $ prices for ages now. To find just a half decent, running 1967 or 68 “ original factory Big Block “ SS396 car in the States is now an absolute minimum of $ 50,000 dollars - and Every one I’ve looked at, has issues of some kind - add building a Fast Engine etc etc, getting it across the pond, paint work, blah blah blah and it’s a £60,000 plus car.

Them Quotes were from Summit who are generally not bad!
Large over size stuff like body panels are notoriously expensive to ship!
But hopefully if it all comes off my Camper man should save to day and me a ton of cash !
