Those prices are insane, I’ve shipped big stuff before for way less, I can recommend all below.

Them Quotes were from Summit who are generally not bad!
Large over size stuff like body panels are notoriously expensive to ship!
But hopefully if it all comes off my Camper man should save to day and me a ton of cash !
Ron at STS has regular containers coming over so you order some big stuff from Summit to be delivered to his place in the US and then he puts it in a container and brings it here.

Those £ shipping costs are absolutely scary….
When I add up all of the invoices for the parts that my Camaro has, it’s more than Scary.
I’ve been closely following Gen 1 Camaro $ prices for ages now. To find just a half decent, running 1967 or 68 “ original factory Big Block “ SS396 car in the States is now an absolute minimum of $ 50,000 dollars - and Every one I’ve looked at, has issues of some kind - add building a Fast Engine etc etc, getting it across the pond, paint work, blah blah blah and it’s a £60,000 plus car.
If the TA goes titsup I’d definitely go after Harry’s 427
But this means borrowing some money which I’m not overly happy with!
But will if I have to , it would be perfect for me as it’s virtually the full package and I’ve no doubt I could improve it,
It’s just Sod’s Law that these two have coincided laugh

I got some prices for delivery costs last night
At least £1000 for shipping, two front quarters and a hood
And two Door skins,
Which came to £2300, then 3.5 % import duty then 20% VAT on the total
Probably a uk handing charge to,
over £4500 without thinking!

I couldn’t imagine having to pay 1000’s in labour
Scary byebye
Yep, tell me about it.....I was lucky that all my panels and body bits that came in for my '32 from Brookville came in one hit in among a lot of other stuff in a container which reduced the shipping and associated costs, but the invoices were eye watering, and that was all pre-Covid.....

Since Covid I've only had to bring in a small number of bits, like the hyd clutch release bearing from McLeod, and the dash gauges from Classic Instruments so not been hit too badly by the big increase in shipping costs.

I would definitely do it that way as well for big parts like the body panels!

And yes, prices are obscene!
Don't want to know prices for more leftfield cars....

Go on buy Harry car,you know you want it !!!,

Going to another mates funeral this week, younger and fitter than me or so i thought,

He bought his dream car 3 months ago as a gift to himself after his retirement,

His widow has just asked me to sell it for her which somehow makes it sadder,

I buy all my parts here have done for years apart from when i was doing a small amount compared to you guys restoration

on a 56 Olds 98 Dynamic convertible , i then used Fusicks who were brilliant, orderd some parts Tuesday afternoon and got the parts Thursday morning.

Last parts i ordered from the States were a boot and spare wheel cover plus a dashboard top for a Falcon Sprint which from memory was around

$200 maybe $250 at the most and got a invoice for closer to a $1000, then had to pay duty on top of that .

Last time i'm trying that i thought trying to save me money and cost me more confused

Managed to get a couple of $'s off after several phone calls phone which probably cost me that so learnt my lesson and now maybe pay a little

more from my regular people here which i know you can't do on the T/Am as you will need so much .

Strange to think I’m almost at the two year anniversary of flogging the RT!!

Haha cheers son
The theoretical face slap !!
Don’t worry I’m focused drunk

Seriously though I’m pretty confident that it’s going to come off ,
In fact I’ve already started sourcing some of the materials I’ll need,
5 litres plus catalyst of Epoxy sealer
I’ll need another 5 plus cat but it’s a start!
4 litres of Eco phos wash Etch primer,
Fabulous product by Max Meyer , perfect for etching new panels,
And so it begins!

Those are aftermarket Rallye lookalikey wheels with 17"/18" low profiles......would perhaps look better of they had a set of stainless/chrome OEM style rim embellishers.

Not sure why but not a lover of Rallye wheels , think they look a little plain for the type of cars they are fitted to

apart from the C3 which they look great on ,are they wider than the ones fitted to the C2, they certainly look like it.

That explains it, even the rim blemishers look wider on the C3 and thought that might be the reason they look wider

but in fact they are , how long have i been doing this and still learning. teacher
