We could write a best seller on various story's that seem to accompany our cars, problem is the general public who
drive normal cars and have never had access to our slightly eccentric situations we have found our selves in from time to time
would think it all to fictional.
be a good thread that, crazy buying and selling tales, i've got a fewdrive normal cars and have never had access to our slightly eccentric situations we have found our selves in from time to time
would think it all to fictional.
One time i was driving a 56 Cadillac Convertible i'd bought in the north of Sweden home, drove all night to make the ferry, driving accross Denmark i was dog tired, slapping my face to stay awake, window open to get some fresh air on my face, i noticed a load of people on a motorway bridge pointing at me, thought it must be becuse of the car, about 5 mins later i was surrounded by police cars and run onto the hard shoulder, dragged out of the car and thrown accross the hood, turned out someone had reported me saying a drunk Swede was swerving about on the motorway. a bit of bullst about the crossply tyres and lorry ruts and they let me go.
Woke me up a bit!

Spotted a nice yank on the way home from work today - a metallic green 1969 / 70 Mustang Grande project parked outside the local bodyshop
Not really my cup of tea but there again i've been spoilt but would make a good project car for a first time yank buyer.Doesn't handle so well either that includes the Mach 1 equivalent as well ,not that any of them handle that well
unless they are modified. probably the last affordable Mustang left.

I bet that wasn't cheap.....
They seem to do most of the popular bespoke metallic leather shades for 50's Caddy, Olds Buick etc.
I have heard though from posts on the HAMB that it can take a while to process the order.

The Pro Touring GTO apparently sold at £46k, well short of its priced guide of mid 60' s prices are on the slide now, probably not a great time for selling, but
Im going to put up an Add to test the water, just a freeby on Cars and Classics, just want a idea of the market before i buy anything else,
Really, Testing the waters a great idea until someone serious calls and wants to come down there and then Im going to put up an Add to test the water, just a freeby on Cars and Classics, just want a idea of the market before i buy anything else,
and put money in your hand, then panic sets in, and the reality of your pride and joy may be going .
Been there a few times,
unlike some ive a limited budget !
Real world prices are ironically a world away from the fancy figures that some think there cars are worth, if my car dont make around 35K i cant possibly pay 50-60K for a wobbly TA
Probably wont happen anyway, the car drives so well, and the effect it has on people never ceases to surprise me, took it to work again today , finished lunch time and nipped round to the gas the old girl, while i was in there a guy who was fueling his van stopped me and said, " mate ive had the worst 2 days ever and this morning was a bh, but hearing and seeing that has made my day , thank you so much" well what dose one say
Amazing the way people warm to these cars .................................................. and gives one a sense of the human side.

You can but they are a nightmare to deal with, tell you they have the material/leather in stock, take your money, then string you along for years, you might get it eventually but it’s no good if you want to get on with a car. We have used them in the past but I wouldn’t go out of my way to use them againThey seem to do most of the popular bespoke metallic leather shades for 50's Caddy, Olds Buick etc.

wants it,the decision would be yours,at least you can act on any t/a's that might come up , when your not bothered
whether you sell or not they always do .the hard part will be to find the R/T's replacement.
Ye it's amazing jo public's reaction to these yanks whether muscle or fin's and chrome, men seem to be drawn to
the muscle cars and the lady's seem to love that glamorous 50's/60's period.
Driving along the Chichester by-pass in my bright red 60 Caddy convertible a Godfrey Davis blue (flat blue) plain
Jane Saab 900 none Turbo pulled along side with a equally dull middle aged librarian looking woman behind the wheel,
For no reason she started tooting her horn continually for ages trying to get my attention by waving frantically, for a minute
i thought something was hanging off the car but when we come to a halt at a roundabout she got out of her Saab holding
up all the traffic and asked me not to drive off while she took photo's , what makes a otherwise normal person who's probably
not that interested in cars go crazy like that ,don't get that with some of the Italian stuff i've had,
The list is endless ,had a another crazy girl following me when i was in my 59 Coupe , i pulled in just to see if she was or wasn't,
She pulled in behind me and ran over to the car and told me her life history in 5 minutes and wanted to introduce her daughter to me
who was sat in her car, scary stuff ,reminded me of that film "Fatal Attraction" never get that when i'm driving my Lexus
I'm sure the 'appreciation' of classic American vehicles has increased over recent years. It was never like that years ago. It can can at times be an irritation if you are trying to get somewhere in a hurry - stop at a filling station and people can be all over the Vette. Parked in the street, at traffic lights, both pedestrians and other drivers, irrespective or age, sex and ethnicity seem to love an old car and ask about it etc. To a degree I find this a little strange with so many nutcase lefty, green fringe groups withn their anti-American, anti-car, anti-establishment mindsets.
Its refreshing perhaps that the majority of people don't agree with these views.

All these hot rod , resto-mod programs and You Tube video's have made people more aware that there's more to AmericanIts refreshing perhaps that the majority of people don't agree with these views.
cars than LTD's in the reruns of Streets of San Francisco, muscle cars replacing Italian exotics ,Porsche's ect normally used by the films
hero and classic yanks being the star of most pop video's have generated a new interest from the UK public.
Coming down the motorway in my Shelby tribute i was aware of the cars in front putting their windows down ready to listen to the exhausts
as i went by, i expect you get that a lot with the Vette, you can't help noticing them in the rear view mirror amongst all the Euro box's.
More general excitement being showed than cars costing 4/5times the price and people are genuinely nice to you not like some
other exotic stuff that bring out jealousy in some, Ye can be a problem if in a hurry but i'm usually not when i 'm out in one but when
i have broken down and covered in oil and sweat i still get people wanting photo's and asking questions witch then becomes tiresome

I do get people on the pavement at traffic lights or from other vehicles in stationary traffic asking for a 'rev-up' - (and I usually oblige) - mind you with a stainless 'X' pipe system it doesn't sound like one might expect from a BBC powered car - more like its LS powered perhaps?cars than LTD's in the reruns of Streets of San Francisco, muscle cars replacing Italian exotics ,Porsche's ect normally used by the films

Yep had all them, but almost without exception the questions/comment are all positive , and as you say Rosco just goes to show by far the majority of people are just getting on with life, not screaming lefty vegan save the planet eco terrorist, i absolutely love telling people im doing my bit towards global warming :
As a guy on the MMA says, Carbon Footprint of a Saturn Five.....................................
