Original Dodge Challenger

I had a really nice 68 Dart 4 speed, it flew on the strip, looked great at shows on Poyglass redstreak tyres, it was without doubt the worst car to drive on the road, I could have cried on the way back to Manchester from the 'Pod on the M6! Swapped the wheel and tyres for mags and modern radials for day to day and it was epic! Poly's for the show. real tyres for the drive.

I can only assume youve never driven a yank with Bias Tyres lol
They are the work of Lucifer
I haven't ever driven on bias ply tyres and genuinely interested. They are the work of Lucifer
What characteristics do they have when driving compared to radials....?
But, I don't mind them on old stuff (pre 1960's) as its what the chassis were designed for, and they make you realise you are driving an old car, not a young car.

It does in the first sentence.Bias-belted.
The article explains that its a bias-ply tyre with some added belts, so a sort of attempt at improving a bias-ply (crossply) tyre prior to the introduction of radial tyres.

And the next sentence is:"The Polyglas tires had bias construction that added stabilizing circumference belts directly beneath the tread".
And a bit further down that article it says:
"The Polyglas tire and its competitors were soon replaced by steel belted radials as original equipment tires around 1975."
As I said, they were a hybrid bias-ply prior to radial tyre introduction to try and cope with the extremes of the late 60's muscle car era.
They were only a marginal improvement on the earlier bias-ply tyres, and not a patch on proper radial tyres.
Good for burnouts though
Yep look fab, look period Muscle Car, perfect of glamour shots,
And i guess thats the thing, a genuine 426/4 speed is a rare and very valuable piece of Sculpture ,
And as such as a stationary bit of automotive art the way it actually drives is academic .
Just seems a waste, to be lucky enough to own the holy grail and not to enjoy it

Just look at that dodgy glass sunroof!
we fitted a ton of em, and although they were very popular at the time, its now turns out we actually ruined every car that had one
I had a CJ muzzie at one point that had a dual glass roof, plus a very trendy piece of mood lighting in the centre, Chic
Lol any one restoring that car now would be so p------d, Skinning a roof is a mission !!!
