I didn't think exposed wheels were allowed unless there's some kind of mudguard I can't see.
Correct, they are not allowed.

Plenty of people run them fenderless though. It depends on how risk averse you are to getting a ticket, although, these days, the issue could be more than a ticket, if that ticket then leads to further investigation into roadworthiness and DVLA registration etc.
Touching wood while i'm writing this but drive both my Rods fenderless on open headers and have only

been pulled once, in the 3 window by a bored Police bike, once his MID started working and checked it out his very words were i suppose

if it's moted, taxed and insured i suppose it must be ok,sounding confused and out of his depth,

My arument will always be that if the mot tester says it's road worthy regarding fenders how can the police give you a ticket ,

one contradicts the other, will take that arument to court if i ever do get a ticket and would make a good test case i would have thought.

Always safety in numbers with less chance of being pulled than out on your own ,

That Rod looks like it's on a 4x4 chassis it's so high but good man driving it in this weather , clap

laugh

It’s got Clockwork Orange written on both sides
There is a guy near me who a couple of unfinished rods on his drive,

Now I think about it I should have done one !
So RR how’s the car searching going? Any joy?

I’ve never been pulled driving a Yank.

But I have been in mates cars when it’s happened.
Much stricter in the USofA than here it seems?

There is trust given by the Police that Yank owners are genuine road users!
I was at the Guildford cruise and it was getting constantly wrecked by rice burners.
The Police didn’t need to close it down, the Yankees stopped going...

Cruising with other like minded folks in an organised event is coolio.
But general hooning by waste gaters has spoilt the show.

As the lack-of organisation of cruises and drag racing venues occurs, street racing will come back?

If it’s on the old A249 near Sittingbourne then that would be great.
Any further and I will get the bus lol...

Only been 'tugged' about three times in a Yank - once just up the road by the 'heavies' for 40 in a 30 mph limit.....and nicked. If he hadn't had me for that it would have been the 'States Plates'. Previous to that was tugged once at Chelsea Cruise in my 66 Galaxie 7 Litre (questioned why so low) and again in the same car for excessive noise - had to explain that 7000 cc and perhaps 400 hp could explain it.....whilst he stood behind the car and the rumpity, rumpity cam was causing the exhaust to blow his uniform all over the place (the same one that would rattle the ornaments off shelf in houses when parking-up)

I’ve been eyeballed recently a few times ,
Think it could be the perception I’m not wearing a seat belt?
I only ever use the lap belts, don’t wear Paddy Hopkirk rally gloves when I fasten them though!

Or they could just be looking at the car!
Just got some more fuel, Tesco’s Momentum 99 @ 1.58
So keeping rolling for now driving

I’ve never been pulled , ever !
But did get caught in a speed trap years ago
In Of all places Hook in Hampshire ffs,

Just trying to picture the coppers uniform being blowed about by the force of that 7 litre V8

accompanied by the off beat rumble that only a cammed big block can give, love these sort of stories ,

we need to write that book before someone else does, scratchchin

Never been pulled, all those years of driving muscle cars ,you must have got away with murder.

I've been pulled soooo many times even when i've been behaving myself,

Same story at the airports and even getting on a ferry to Guernsey ,that's the trouble when you look like a Colombian drug dealer.

Missed my plane to Jersey to see a Ranchero when the customs and plain clothed police seached me,had to catch the next flight,

Got stopped coming out of Jersey Airport as well,

When the guy who owned the Ranchero saw me he laughted and said if i was smuggling drugs or cash i would get behind me

in the queue and walk through customs as they pull me out, bought the car from him only for me and the car to be searched at

the ferry terminal,no wonder i avoid going abroad on holidays, bandit

Yeah agree,
But surely with a chassis approaching 90 years old whatever one does it will still drive Sh—-!
Makes my laugh when I see “ an original Rod”
Whatever they are still good to look at,
And we love em ,

My Rods and any others i've driven drive like none of the nuts and bolts have been tightened up.

When i take any of my mates for a drive who own old cars not necessarily yanks can't believe how

bad they drive leaping about on uneven roads and having to keep correcting which way

they are pointing after landing back on the tarmac, yikes

They think i'm totally bonckers driving them let alone at speed,

After saying all that there's a charm and character about them that makes you

forgive there faults as long as there not your daily driver.driving

Absolutely!
The whole experience is the thing,
I’ve driven cars with a centre throttle, good lord
that’s hard work!

I’m lazy and that’s why I’ve done what I can to make my cars drive nicely,
As with all things they were top of the pile when they were made!

Just watching Christine , some good looking motors
The Plymouth is just epic, my dad had one virtually the same when we lived in Perry Vale,

Blimey it could have only been 4 years old!

Old cars = never ending memories

Perry Vale, now that brings back memories of collecting my parts there, sure they were called OCW just around the corner from the Hoover Building,

Love that building ,could look at it for hours, expect to see Poirot coming out of there.

Then off to Starvin Marvins for a bite to eat and a visit to the Ace all within a few miles of each other making a great day out

just collecting some spare parts,thumbup

What would have possibly been my first Yank in about 1970'ish was a red with white stripe ex-Belgian poverty spec' 4 door '57 Belvedere with 3.8 ltr 6 pot sidevalve and (I think) 2 speed auto box with push button operation. It was parked-up just off Wanstead Flats near the Three Rabbits pub in Manor Park just around the corner from a girl I was going out with back then. This was in the days before Norwich Union came out with reduced cost classic car insurance. Could have bought the car for £80 of £100 (can't remember exactly how much) - insurance would have been the killer though at £150. So didn't buy it.

There was a famous drag racer in Wanstead flats...

His name was Mick Sackett and he was a God of Engineering and Hemi engines!

I was in awe of him and he built his own fuel altered, what a man.
I bought a 417ci Donovan hemi from him with plans to copy his wonderous feat.

40 years has gone past and the wonderous feat has not been achieved YET? (DOH)...

Back then it was totally mind blowing stuff indeed...(mid 80's)
