I never thought I'd ever see a yank outdo a Miura at the auctions, that '69 Daytona Hemi is bonkers money!
It's not exactly an unusual occurrence...!!
They made over 900 Miura's after all.......they are relatively speaking, ten a penny.

They only made 22 x 4-speed Hemi powered Charger Daytona's.

And at the Mecum auction back in January the legendary Hirohata '51 Mercury sold for nearly double the Daytona price, when it sold for $2.145m......and at the same auction, the prototype '65 Shelby GT350R sold for $3.75m.......
I'll put it down me wearing my usual Italian blinkers!
I wonder what the ex-Steve McQueen Ferrari 250 Lusso would sell for today at auction if it came across the blocks given that it sold for $2.3m back in 2007.........and I believe it's in the UK......but not sure if its ever been seen in public here or not? Don't think its even been seen at the Revival? Probably kept in a carcoon full time in a car sized bank vault somewhere.....

Its all about torque.

V8's make loads of torque at low rpm's...

So very low gearing will always work well with a V8 at around 3000rpm.

But a smallblock V8 'in the same car' will probably get an extra 5mpg approx...

Just think of all the money Roger Bannister has saved with his 69 318 Charger?

He still has his after 30 years and I sold my 440 R/T many moons ago lol...

Did you know they made six cylinder Chargers???

I was offered a 1969 'six cyl' Charger in 2004 and laughed my socks off...

''Who would want such abomination''?

ME NOW, what a MUPPET...

Ever heard of CVVC?

Mr. Honda (Japan) reconfigured a 350 Chevy engine to run to modern EPA emissions in 1973!

Clever them japs with no loss of power.

David Vizard says he can get a V8 to run 100mpg with a variable venturi carb!

No one ever listens to the smart guys...

Do we want MPG or Street CRED!!!

Believe it or not I saw it blasting up the Oxford to Banbury Road a few years ago, it had just been to Oselli for some attention, it looked and sounded epic as it went past me, I was on the way down to Oxford mid morning in one of our old Corsa staff vans.

Another memorable on the road experience was coming back from the NEC show a few years ago, between Cov and Rugby on the A45 three GT40 replicas thundered past me, the noise was incredible cloud9

Yep. The 318V8 or 225 six was the standard base engine, you could specify either.

I actually still have an original 1969 Charger sales brochure (and a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda one as well)

I'll take this one please.....ex-Otis Chandler collection, and a 4-speed Hemi car as well cloud9
Actually it was this car that held the record as highest price Daytona at $900k, when it was auctioned a few years back, until the F8 green car smashed that record at the weekend.

On the off chance I can go I've just bought a ticket for that MITCAR show in Derbyshire, it's a tenner per car rather than per person so if I can't go it's not so bad. Hoping to go in the Maser though, I've just checked my slush fund and I think there's enough in there to get it tuned up and MOTd in time. I've just ordered another period steering wheel for the Mini so I can transfer the Nardi wheel into the Maser.

If the 430 goes, what's next on your shopping list.... another yank or something European and mildly exotic...? scratchchin

I never thought I'd ever see a yank outdo a Miura at the auctions, that '69 Daytona Hemi is bonkers money! As GTX says I doubt if the new owner will use it in anger, a pity really - in the parallel universe where I could afford a 1m Miura or LP400 Countach I'd still want to use them, no matter what their 'value' is.
Really happy to keep the 430 ,haven't had any time behind the wheel to bond with it,

nippers done all the mileage , I've probably covered less than 200 miles in it out of the 2,000 miles it's

covered with us in bit over 4 years

but it seems such a waste and it's in a high road tax group and it's not old enough for classic insurance ,

Want to get the GTB back on the road and while the 430 there i won't get round to it.

Got a short list ,1 english and 2 yanks ,will only buy 1 out of the 3 otherwise i'm back to

storage problem again .

Collecting Cars said it would go live today ,as they already have all the details and photo's it

can jump the queue but just had a look and it's not on yet.confused

He ran it at Pendine a couple of times, ran a best of 107.2mph in 2016 and a best of 102.25mph in 2018.
