I agree with you about politics.....to a point. But when our motoring 'freedom' and obvious anti-car regulations are bought-in or proposed by supposed 'greenies', 'lefties' and individuals who have never experienced any form of 'real' world work experience and manipulate things to their own agendas I get really aggravated
Me to , but and it’s a big but, the whole classic car thing is often perceived by such morons as being a toffs game,And as such should be banned under any excuse they can think of!
Look how shooting is treated , we’re all gun totting murdering nutters,
With every political party looking to make brownie points from increased legislation in the name of public safety!
While these abject A holes are doing everything to get Joe Public into EV’s that simply don’t work,
Our world wide enemies are burning my coal and oil year on year,
This whole woke crap really does seem to be a disease to humans who speak English as a fist language!
So my but is simply because I’ve done the marches I’ve done the letter to my MP writing, I’ve filled in responses the more legislation and it’s made F—-all difference ever!
We’ve a totally weak useless government that’s basically run by the media
So basically the plot of a rubbish Bond Flick
Well getting back to old cars
Finished paint removal to the cars rear end
Still got some internal areas to strip, but essentially done and ready for some blast cleaning,
Bolted the bumper lamps back in etc just in case !
Been keeping a record of hours worked , got just over 40 so far, so easy to see how one’s bill could develop!

Just been chatting with the guy across the road.......he has very recently bought a metallic green late Capri 3 litre.....seems it's a 3000E with rebuilt engine, axle and auto box......he's not happy with the auto transmission......too sluggish so now considering other options.......

I guess you meant to say late Mk1 Capri.....Auto's were quite rare on the Mk.1 3.0 Capri's. It wasn't until the Mk.2 3.0 Ghia that the auto started to become a more popular option, and by the end of the Mk.2, almost all 3.0 Ghia were optioned with the auto, so that the auto became standard on the Mk.3 3.0 Ghia.

If it a 3000E it is a mark one pre-facelift car. Should not be too difficult to put a manual gearbox in I would have thought
I'm reminded back many years when my late brother in law had a next generation Capri Ghia in a metallic burgundy colour with its 2.8 or 3 ltr V6 and auto transmission......what a nice driving car that was.....seemed to have good performance all those years ago. As did the Mk3 2 ltr lovely black 2 litre Capri 'S' bought cheaply from a work collegue for 'er indoors. Great driving car, unfortunately Mrs Roscobbc being of a diminutive build and height struggled with the low (for her) driving position and non-assisted steering with its small, flat steering wheel and regrettably we had to sell it.roscobbc said:

All Mk.2 and Mk.3 Ghia's had either the 2.0 Pinto or the 3.0 Essex V6.Drove down with my mates to southern Spain in a MK 1 Capri in 1977 ,only a 1.6 as well , Not a good choice of car really as my mates were both over 6
ft tall, Made worse as we had done the same trip in a Sweeney coke bottle shaped Granada Ghia the year before,
We was taking my daily driven E Type roadster as there was only 2 of us going but a third mate decided he would come along and fked up
what would have been the best road trip ever,
Did the same trip in my Ferrari 456 lhd , it reminded me of our trip some 26 years earlier in the Capri with both having the about same amount of room
inside just a little quicker and not to mention thirstier..

Also found a 62’ Catalina with a 4 something Super Duty motor,
'62 SD421 Catalina's are pretty special...especially the lightweight factory drag car ones, which they only built about 160 or something of, with ally panels etc.The SD421 was the King of the Hill, and trounced the 409 Chevy's in 62.
Pontiac claimed similar hp rating to the 409 Chevy for the production cars, but whereas the 409 hp rating was about right, the Pontiac was way under rated, and was a true 50-60 hp more than stated.
I've seen a modern dyno test on an original low mileage SD421 showing 470hp+, which is quite something for 1962.
Sadly, GM's factory ban on racing in '63 put a stop to all the fun, and left the door open for Ford and Dodge/Plymouth to take things to the next level with the 427side-oiler and 413 and 426 Super Stock wedges and then the Hemi of course.
Talking of engines, I’ve just ordered a Poncho
V8 rebuild and uprate book, so it’s been awhile since I done any serious motor work,
Originally is planned to farm out the oily bits but thought meh I’ll keep it in house and do it myself!
Obviously at this time I’ve no real idea whether my engines sound, looks ok with no obvious block damage, but won’t know till it’s pulled and stripped ,
With luck I’ll get away with re ring and a new set of shells
Timing gear and a oil pump etc
Famous last words!!!

Aero's recent comments relating to little known hi-po options in the early 60's reminds me of some of the aftermarket cylinder head options that were available once (and generally no longer) names like Arias for BBC hemi head conversions, the late Gary Feelings (once famous for 'W' format Harley Davidson triple engine) three valve BBC heads......where did they all go?
Another 70 TA is on the bay of lies.
It says the original 400 was replaced with a "1979 455 HO". Erm, are you sure?
Anyhoo, it's been here since the 70s, this may be a known car?

The new owner needs a couple of these to fit to the car, looking at that original invoice

That's my old car that i sold to bugie back in 2009,
Spotted it on Sunday evening after getting in at 8 o'clock ,called immediately but the seller took a grand deposit sight unseen within a hour of listing it at
4.30 that afternoon, Nice genuine guy who didn't know what he had or the value of it,
Thought he would have taken the ad down but when i looked yesterday it was still there but at £33,995 so thinking i'm in with a chance even at the new
price i called him again ,he said he is sooo fed up with the amount of calls he obviously priced it to low and just in case his deal falls through he has
increased the price, The guy was meant to collect the car today but on the way back from putting some petrol in it for the buyer it developed a misfire
so he had to put off the buyer collecting it today, ,l think hoping he might have put him off buying it altogether ,anyhow he said he will give me first crack
buy it if it falls through which by the
the looks of things it hasn't unless it has and he has taken it off altogether realising his mistake and going to advertise it at a later date at the true value
which in my opinion is nearer the £45K/£50K as it is a very special spec car and very upsetting for me not just because the seller gave it away but out of
all the many yanks i have owned if anyone said to me which one would you love to buy back the most that is the one ,
We may even see it again if sold to a dealer ,
Going out that afternoon not only cost me probably £22k but the chance to rekindle the love of a old flame.
Now i got some idea what it is like the have won the lottery then go and lose the ticket ,Hey Ho !!
Sorry guys i know i go on a bit but i had to get it off my chest after 15 years of wanting that car back in my life i go and miss it by a couple of hours ,
, Blame Leigh for posting it otherwise i was going to keep quiet after all no one wants to see a grown man cry. ,

That’s a real bummer!!
Was it actually a 1V ??
Very rear , one of less than 60 !!!
I would have let your secret out as I’ve just checked my old pics from Muscle car technology’s and lo and behold there it was !!!
Lots of dodgy info though?
No 455 in 79’ etc
And yep well to cheap !!
Some one has had a result!
