Who else wants a Grand Seiko?
Discussion
I've been hankering after a Grand Seiko for a while. About 6 months or so ago I almost bought one of these:
But the sale fell through (it was a US seller and he wasn't keen to ship to the UK)
However, last week someone on TZ-UK posted this image (sorry its a bit big):
Sadly finding one used appears to be highly unlikely so I am seriously wondering how I can justify buying one new at £3.5k.

Here....when I do eventually buy my first real watch I think it's going to be a GS. There was a great looking vintage one recently on eBay with a cut glass/crystal face unfortunately the condition was not great. Lovely looking thing though.
ETA....it's quite hard to see the glass

Oh yes, would love one
The SBGH001 would be my GS of choice..
None of this spring-drive malarkey for me, I'd prefer a pure high-end auto. Used to really fancy the SDs but I've gone off them since, I know that this isn't the case but I can't get it out of my head that the only reason why they're so accurate and consistant is because of the non mechanical part of them. Give me a properly sorted auto over a hybrid any day.
Haven't handled any personally but have seen a few on the other side of a jeweller's display case.

Jura watches sell GS...
They do, and if we pick on the lovely, lovely, SBGH001 they'll add £1000 premium to it, compared with the Seiya price (not incl duty and whatnot). Is there a calculator anywhere that will work out what the likely additional costs could be for importing?I'm sure I read somewhere that the Seiko factory has a shop with variants that you can only buy there. Would be a nice (if expensive) day out
