Sooo.... I get an email from Creationwatches telling me they will have a 1 week delay awaiting fresh stock form the factory.

Thing is... I thought Orange monsters weren't produced anymore.

Anyone enlighten me? Should I go for refund or let this one ride....?

Advice gratefully received... smile

I just got that impression due to them being a "find" and far less than the RRP of £350.

Must be soemthing with this forum as I bought mine after reading here. I went for the black with the rubber divers strap so I can get it over my wetsuit. I have not been in with it yet but will be testing it next week in the Maldives. Over the last three months I have been really impressed with it and even with my skinny wrists it still does not look out of place.
I bought mine on the bracelet and then dropped twenty quid on the Seiko rubber strap. To be honest, it's more comfortable on the bracelet.

The drilled lugs mean that it's a doddle to swap over.
However, taking links out of the bracelet is a nightmare.

Yes.

I got a jeweller to do that for me.

However, subsequent to that, I now have a jeweller's hammer, some punches, and one of those block things to hold the bracelet.

Much easier. I've resized my Omega bracelet (which also has a collar arrangement) this way. When I eventually retrieve my BM from my son, I'm going to pop a link out of its bracelet myself.

By the time I removed a couple of links from mine I felt like Donald Pleasence in the Great Escape, I never want to go near those tiny collars again.

I too succumbed to the Orange Monster after reading posts on this site, I opted for the steel bracelet from CreationWatches as the price difference over rubber was negligible. I would have gone for a leather strap with orange stiching if Ken at Watchworx had any but in the meantime have been looking at the alternatives. Well after a few days I still can't make up my mind so decided to set aside twenty minutes to alter the original strap. Looking at the instructions on the other post it all seemed a bit daunting. Well the first collar came out perfectly, the second sprang off somewhere, but I eventually found it and from there on it was pretty straight forward. Overall took about 10 mins to remove three links, reckon it could be done with a large paper clip but as previous poster says you need good eyesight!
Subsequently purchased another Seiko and have my eye on a Sinn 656. At last I've found something thats cheaper to collect than cars, this may be the future!

My Orange monster arrived from Creation yesterday, damn this thread!!! Got a one on a rubber strap and I have to say I'm really impressed with it, obviously all the reviews say its a good bit of kit, but it really seems to be.

Creation were really good too, think it took less than a week from order and no hassles on delivery. I'd order from them again, if I could find a purple monster....!

Phew... my OM coming from them, I was worried as it's coming from SGP that maybe I did a wrong un and it's a fake.

I've ordered a Toshi orange stitched black leather strap.

If I like this one then I may well grab another in a different colour too... or customise the face as I quite like it with the black outer ring... think it would go even more with the strap then

I had mine on a rubber strap. Was ok. Then I put it on a Rhino. Pretty nice. Tried it on a quality leather. Not sure. Stuck it on a lumpy with polished outer links. Wowsers.

That's not a Monster, it's a Seiko 5.

The Monsters:

Black:

Orange:

Night:

Blue (Limited edition):

Yellow (Very limited edition, 300 pieces):

Purple:

It's really easy to get Seiko Monsters modified. I had this one made from a black monster.

Seiya Japan is generally well thought-of, if not the cheapest possible place to buy watches.

You've really gone and done it now - black and orange monster.

Very nice.

And from the watch-madness list, I see you qualify for numbers 12 and 16...

11. Of course it's worth paying more for a decorated movement. You can see it when you're not wearing it.

12. A good, representative collection should have one of each type, and I haven't got a purple one.

13. It's a restoration project. I don't like it enough to buy a good one, but I'll be bringing it back to life. I'm not sure if you can still get the parts.

14. They only made 200, so I won't be wearing it. The standard model looks the same, so I might get one of those for wearing.

15. It's Russian. It might not work for more than a week but it's got a tank on it. Fantastic value.

16. It's a Seiko. Everybody should have one Seiko. I've got 348.
