Is this something Joe (Variomatic) does on a regular basis? I have a 5 that loses a couple of minutes a day. It's almost cheaper to buy a new one but I'd rather keep it.
Sorry mate, I missed your reply. Give him a call is the best option, he used to be quite regular on this forum but has not posted for a while.

Thanks. I received it as a non-runner and a little beaten up so I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Another Mod. Sumo back on the OEM bracelet (after having had it on a Nato and a Zulu leather)

1971 Pogue bought last week

I thought it was called a Pepsi , but never mind .
For the want of a winding crown , mine has sat in a drawer for years now , I would love to get it back working again
.
My first "good " watch , bought about 50 years ago

What do you chaps mean by 'modded'? Changing the strap? Something else?

No, the strap isn't usually considered as being a mod I don't think.

It's often changing bezels, hands and faces that is referred to as modding.

Yeah. My Sumo had a new bezel insert, a new dial and hands, and a new Sapphire crystal (to replace the previous Hardlex)

The primary reason for modding is to take a basic standard watch like an SKX or SNZH and turn it into something unique. Websites such as Dagaz offer a range of options for this sort of thing. As well as the above alterations, you can also do things like get the case bead blasted for a satin grey/black look by specialist modders

Using the base Seiko (a very good mechanical watch such as a "5" or a "007") and changing faces, hands, bezels, cases to make something unique.

Is there a good place to buy ready-modded Seikos?

I buy from here. Guy in Poland. Top bloke will make what you want from new or used base watch. Provides a two year guarantee (with address and contact details etc).

Can't fault him. Next one will be a mega tuna.

Yobokies was always my go-to place, but this was a few years ago. Anyway, you can always have a nosey at his photobucket pictures smile Go to the Mods album (or the Sold album)

I think my favourite this week is this BB-alike ...

:'(
That's the problem, their products were on par with much, much more expensive equivalents from the competition, they just offered them at a fair price.
I'm amazed it took them so long to up their prices by a significant amount. Sad!

Not my pic, but I've just acquired this modified SKX. For me it is the perfect adaptation of the model.

Ah yes, I saw that on TZ. Looks lovely.
What is TZ and how do I get a watch like that ????

I've only just started wearing a watch after 20 or so years without one. I saw a titanium seiko in a jewelers and just had to have it. I now spend my time looking at threads like this smile
That's a modified SKX007 with a smooth/machined bezel - it's not available off the shelf but one of the mod guys will take your hard earned and pick an SKX007 up for you, mod it and ship it out to you.

As someone was asking about modified Seikos, this is possibly the nicest modified Seiko I've ever seen (from earlier in the thread)
