Had a call from Goldsmiths in Bristol last night to tell me that having my name on their list since March 2019 was a waste of time. Under their new rules if you haven't purchased from them in the past then you are not getting a chance at a new sub. My response was that they are feeding the grey market as I saw an unworn Starbucks at a dealer in Wales for £17k....

Bored now, will look at a new Omega Seamaster at the weekend and buy it if I like it.

I really couldn't be bothered with the circus show that is a Rolex AD and don't understand how anyone could put up with the hassle of buying new what we all know is an overpriced watch (and before anyone has a pop I own a Datejust and Explorer II).

I’m certainly heading this way. I’m waiting for an Explorer & as time ticks along I’m doubtful even this “lesser” model will materialise. Plan B is an Omega Seamaster also, the black dial version was really lovely or I might save a few quid & plump for a Pelagos.

Yeah it is a circus and they are pushing customers away to other brands like Omega/Tudor.

I bought a Seamaster Bond in 2000 and still have it so was looking for something different to 'celebrate' my 50th so thought Rolex and was assured by Goldsmiths that I would get it by June, hence putting my name down in 2019.

If I wanted to I could buy something else from them but to be honest I won't be held to ransom and with the exception of the lady I have been dealing with the rest of the staff instore are very condescending.

I do like the new Seamaster in black and the Pegalos is also another nice watch and if you want either of them you can actually walk into a shop and purchase.

As someone with no major interest in watches but I am a Rolex owner, I can't say I've ever heard of Tudor. Omega.... no

Even if Rolex are potentially a hassle to deal with they're still where my money is going next. Again.

Someone posting something you don't agree with isn't trolling.

If you randomly stopped people in the street and asked what is a Tudor, what do you think they're going to say? How about a Rolex?

It's a very weird courtship that buyers have to go through. It's interesting to read the forums in America where questions such as 'what gift should I buy my Rolex dealer?' are asked.

What part of my post do you think is trolling exactly?

So I'm the troll whilst you deliberately go around in circles and can't answer a simple question?

I don’t think he’s trolling. Most people have never heard of Tudor if they aren’t anal about watches.

My dad has a ‘casual interest’ in watches and often browses the watch auctions. He is familiar with most of the known brands, but when I mentioned Tudor to him one day he didn’t have a clue what/who they were.

When I compare those I understand it a bit more now... Tudor is the watch you buy when you wanted a Rolex but couldn't afford one? A (presumably well made at the price) watch but a knock off none the less?

You probably shouldn't believe anything you read on the internet but I can say with 100% certainty I'd never heard of Tudor before reading that post earlier tonight.

I wouldn't leap to typecast their client base in an offensive way then laugh
