Has the Rolex bubble finally burst? Perhaps it has
Discussion
Had a call from Goldsmiths in Bristol last night to tell me that having my name on their list since March 2019 was a waste of time. Under their new rules if you haven't purchased from them in the past then you are not getting a chance at a new sub. My response was that they are feeding the grey market as I saw an unworn Starbucks at a dealer in Wales for £17k....
Bored now, will look at a new Omega Seamaster at the weekend and buy it if I like it.

I really couldn't be bothered with the circus show that is a Rolex AD and don't understand how anyone could put up with the hassle of buying new what we all know is an overpriced watch (and before anyone has a pop I own a Datejust and Explorer II).Bored now, will look at a new Omega Seamaster at the weekend and buy it if I like it.

Yeah it is a circus and they are pushing customers away to other brands like Omega/Tudor.
I bought a Seamaster Bond in 2000 and still have it so was looking for something different to 'celebrate' my 50th so thought Rolex and was assured by Goldsmiths that I would get it by June, hence putting my name down in 2019.
If I wanted to I could buy something else from them but to be honest I won't be held to ransom and with the exception of the lady I have been dealing with the rest of the staff instore are very condescending.
I do like the new Seamaster in black and the Pegalos is also another nice watch and if you want either of them you can actually walk into a shop and purchase.

As someone with no major interest in watches but I am a Rolex owner, I can't say I've ever heard of Tudor. Omega.... noEven if Rolex are potentially a hassle to deal with they're still where my money is going next. Again.

Trolling in this thread is getting betterEven if Rolex are potentially a hassle to deal with they're still where my money is going next. Again.
If you randomly stopped people in the street and asked what is a Tudor, what do you think they're going to say? How about a Rolex?

It's a very weird courtship that buyers have to go through. It's interesting to read the forums in America where questions such as 'what gift should I buy my Rolex dealer?' are asked. Gazzab said:

I don’t think he’s trolling. Most people have never heard of Tudor if they aren’t anal about watches.
My dad has a ‘casual interest’ in watches and often browses the watch auctions. He is familiar with most of the known brands, but when I mentioned Tudor to him one day he didn’t have a clue what/who they were.
