You have a very nice face! I really like that.

As an aside, what's the point/value of a second hand? At one point it was undoubtedly a show-off of complexity, but nowadays?
Thank you! It's fast becoming my favourite, but we shall see if that is still the case when the Eichi arrives.

I like second hands, I like seeing the movement at work. For the Grand Seikos that I have, second hands are 100% for showing off the moment, and I love it. The completely smooth second hand of the Spring Drive, and the super fast 10Hz ticking of the Hi-Beat are both wonderful things to look at.

Problem is, I didn't have incredible light and had to shoot at a small aperture for depth of focus. This meant a slow shutter speed, and with the second hand moving so fast I got a fair bit of blurring if it wasn't stopped. Ugh. Photoshop maybe.

This thread is hurting my wallet.

Was 155 USD and got a 42 EUR bill from customs.

For € 175, I'm very happy. It's also one of my first seiko's I don't feel immediately compelled to replace the bracelet.

I need a Seiko, just don't know which one to get. I like the 5's but I also like the skx009, but not sure if I should go for a j or k?

Any suggestions? £200 budget.

No real difference in quality j or k.......only you will pay more for a j.

Yep, I went for the K as it's even cleaner (no "made in japan" on the dial). In resale it doesn't make any difference.

As the guys have said, there's no real difference unless you're dead set on having 'Made in Japan' on the dial.

I'd definitely go for an SKX of your choosing for that budget, they're an iconic watch.

Thanks guys. I have been advised to get a turtle instead as the movement is better? At this price point does it really matter?

Any recommendations for where to get a k from?

I have both...both are really nice with little between them.

If you need hand winding and hacking get the Turtle other than that get whichever you like the look of.

So here's mine.(7A28-7020)
18th (1987) birthday present off my old man. Still got the paperwork, not sure about the box.
BUT I lost the bottom left hand crown wheel and was told they are no longer available, any ideas

They are both different watches. I love the SKX as it's amazing value for money.
The Turtle movement has hacking/winding but it's a significantly more expensive watch at twice the price.

creationwatches is great tbh.

After a few years of constant use my SNK809K2 has broken. It looks like the dial feet have broken and the dial now spins around within the casing.

If anyone wants the watch to take apart / modify / fix then please let me know and I'll pop it in an envelope and post to you FOC.

Its a well worn example, has no strap (I've removed my aftermarket leather strap) and has a few marks on the glass, but thought I'd offer it for free rather than throwing it in the bin.
