Omega x Swatch Collaboration
Discussion
I can't remember if I posted on this thread before but I have a mission Earth that I got in New York over Christmas. The store in Times Square gets a delivery every day and I happened to be passing when they had some. They made me stand in a queue outside for no reason other than to give the appearance of demand, there was about 4 of us waiting and a huge store that could easily have accommodated us inside.
I will probably get a few other colours as it is quite a fun watch and I enjoy wearing it.

Found myself in Carnaby street at the weekend. Asked at Swatch shop. Queue laughter and something about going to Battersea.
Carnaby don’t sell them. It’s only Oxford street and Covent Garden who get a couple of deliveries per day. Over the last few weeks it’s mostly been ‘white strap’ version in stock. I managed to get a new Mars to replace one that was damaged. ae111sr said:

What's the recommended alternative strap for these?
Was looking at a NATO on Amazon, but open to suggestion
Not sure if you have seen these on Watch GeckoWas looking at a NATO on Amazon, but open to suggestion

Well this is what 22 quid gets you from china delivered. Yes it's a fake but as I said before I'm not travelling 100 odd miles on the chance of getting a watch.
It is actually well made, steel, plastic glass. Pretty chuffed. Chrono works.

Here’s my £25 one which I’ll be giving away. Feels pretty much identical to the original. The sub dial on the right which actually works as a 24 hour hand is the only issue.
They’re a bit of fun, but strong money at retail price in my opinion. £129 or so feels about right for a Swatch with Omega on the dial.

How does it work as a 24 hour hand being marked up to 10? Or is that the issue? But I tell you what it has done is persuade me to buy another Speedmaster. I sold one of the original reduced ages ago, but will probably now pick up one of the new 38s. White face with Sena gold on leather looks great, or I might just go traditional black.
That’s probably the exact sort of effect they were looking for. So they win. Here’s my money!

I've worn a Speedmaster Reduced for the last 15 years or more. It's a circa 1990 model that I bought second hand. You've piqued my interest now because I didn't realise Omega had done a new 38mm Personally, I think the 38mm models look great. Not all styles seem to be on the Omega website so I wonder if some have been discontinued or are only for certain markets. They now feature the co-axial movement, better bracelet and a fairly discreet date. Although the whole thing is perhaps a bit more blindly.
There’s a few on eBay if you look. The grey face with brown strap is very tempting.

If Swatch just made these watches available online as they originally promised then much of the demand for fake ones and scalping would go away.
