Anyone bought from Creation Watches recently?

I've seen a watch on there but I know they don't include duty in their prices and wondering which shipping method has the least chance of attracting duty?

Or I could buy from a company called City watches that appear to dispatch from the UK, but charge £30 more for the same watch.

Tissot PRX review

Having had this for a couple of weeks I think I can give you some first impressions.

If you don’t like homage watches his isn’t for you; it’s a straight-up reworking of the late 1970s/early 80s Rolex Oysterquartz. Oddly enough very few of the online reviews actually picked up on this.

Let’s get that out of the way first; this is powered by a quartz module. It’s also available with the Swatch group Powermatic 80 movement, but as a blatant copy of the Oysterquartz I think it makes most sense as a battery powered watch.

The PRX is all about three things. Sharp edges, great brushed finishing and an amazing integrated bracelet.

The case and lugs are sharp and angular. Very retro. Brushed flat case face but a high-polished bezel.

The brushing is slightly wider grained than I’ve seen on other watches. Is that also a 1970s thing? Anyway it works really, really well.

I held back at first as the bracelet doesn’t have micro adjust and secures with a butterfly clasp, two things I hated about my Longines Conquest, but this has a much smaller clasp and the half links are tiny. I have got a perfect fit. It has a pronounced taper to the clasp, à la Rolex. It’s solid and doesn’t rattle. The links are flat faced so it catches the light in a unique and rather wonderful way. I know, that sounds a bit poncey, but honestly it does.

What else?
The second hand hits bang on the indices.
I thought maybe the slanted PRX logo would annoy me, in reality I don’t notice it.
The blue sunburst dial is delightful.
It has some lume. It’s not a diver, but there is at least a bit.
100m WR but no screw down crown; I wouldn’t hesitate to take this swimming or snorkeling.
The quick-release design of the bracelet suggests that Tissot will release some strap options in the future. At the moment only Delugs are making custom straps for the PRX.

I would definitely suggest trying this one on; the end links protrude out rather than dropping straight down, so it wears a bit slabbier than its dimensions might suggest.

With the code NY15 these are available at just over £250 at Jura Watches.

TL;DR: a solid retro sports/dress watch, with a standard of finishing and bracelet well above its price point.

Interesting review, thanks.

Amazing the difference small changes make; I rather dislike the top watch (and not just because it's on a bracelet!) but really like the waffle face of the one on orange leather.

ETA - ah, I see it's double the price! I was getting all excited there but I wouldn't pay 500-odd quid for one.

Someone on here has the auto. The face is really nice.

The bracelet on them looks fantastic.

Ok so here we have Genesis for me, the watch that started it all. I’d had digital watches before this, but this was my first ‘proper’ watch. I found it in the road sometime around 1993-1994. I wore it until the battery died and then just threw it in a drawer as I had other watches by that time. I thought I’d dig it out and give it a bit of a clean up and see if it still worked.

I removed the bracelet, removed the crown stem and movement, and put the case and strap in my ultrasonic bath. Dried it all off, fitted a new battery and it works. Put it all back together and put it on a Bond NATO I got free with one of my Pagani Design watches.

I’m really pleased with how it looks now, and my little boy (10 ) absolutely loves it and now wants it. It’s too big for his wrist now, but he’ll inherit it in a few years when it fits him, so the cycle can begin again.

Well that’s your opinion and that’s fine, the 3 silver rings have my kids names on. They are aged 16,10,and 9. They are all Autistic and they saved up their pocket money, chose it, ordered and payed for it, all on there own as a surprise for me for my birthday. As such, I’ll wear it with pride every day as it’s massively important to me and makes me smile.

To you it’s gopping, it means the world to me.

I think you might be on the wrong thread, chap. That’s generally not the way we go about things around here.

Anyway, decent watch and I really appreciate the story behind the bracelet. ‘Wear it with pride’ has rarely seemed a more apt thing to write.

Cheers all.

Nice watch and a job well done. Bracelet looks cool, too, and a great story behind it. I’ve got a paracord one off my kids and it means the world to me

I'm putting a couple of Ali automatic watches on ebay later this evening if anyone is interested - the Benyar Panerai Radiomir homage, and a black Ochstin pilot/flieger watch. I don't wear them anymore, and thanks to the purchase of a Longines Master I suspect I probably never will!

£20 each or so from a threadist would probably secure them. Both watches come with spare straps, have only been worn a handful of times

And.. It's original, off ebay around 2004. So made 1976-78. I may have to be buried in it (around 2062) unless cryogenics tech improves before then.

I love that, definitely my kind of watch and an instant flashback to 1977 when a class mate at middle school showed off his shiny new birthday present wink

I haven't bought anything from them for a while, but the last two purchases I chose Royal Mail and they arrived really quick with no duty. Actually posted from Manchester so I assume they ship in bulk and post from a UK address or agent.

Still looking for a green watch in a diver style and google threw up Etsy and a customiser. Slightly over budget at £225 I’m wondering what the esteemed members think.

It's a nice looking watch but for less than half the price you can get IMHO just as good quality in the form of the Steeldive SD1970 from SteeldiveUK.

Comes with the green silicone strap pictured and a good quality stainless strap too!!

That green sub is maybe £60 in parts, outrageous price! All they have done is stick a seiko logo on!

This is the exact same albeit no nh35, but if you search around on Ali there are hundreds to choose from at a much better price.

I only ask as I learnt to paraglide with a dyslexic Bristolian signwriter called Brian.
