I have gone for a retro classic as it was only £6.50 on Amazon!

Nice GV. Got one just like it, never been worn ;-)

I wonder if there's any truth that they were a limited run??
Never been worn ? Poor thing all hidden away. I wear mine all the time. Get good insurance and enjoy the thing.

As for limited run, I very much doubt it, if I were Rolex I wouldn't smile

When I was buying my Rolex it was a toss up between
the Explorer One (39mm version) and the Milgauss
I went with the Explorer in the end as I thought it looked better on my wrist.
But every time I see a picture like that I always wonder "what if".

I know, it should be worn, but picked up a normal black face for special occasions & the green one as an investment.

Should really just get it out though!

Loving the RM - absolutely stunning.

This is my latest addition..

Was expecting to collect in December ready for xmas but came this week so couldn't resist.
I was going to say I'm over the whole Submariner / Seadweller thing. (Work with diver's & every man & his dog has one) And they are probably the most copied watches out there!
But when you spot a real one, there's no denying the do look good!

Never fails to amuse me how many have them, but when asked "Do you take it into sat with you?" It's met with a look of incredulity, usually followed by "NO F**KING WAY MATE!"

Love the saw 'cuffs' Fantastic humour thumbup
A friend of mine is a 'bone doc' (his words)
By god can he use a hammer, axe logs and saw trees hehe

Better be a little quiet though, I need knee replacements at 42, wouldn't want to offend nuts

That's the watch I wear in the Engine Room. but at £6.50, I feel you may have been fleeced, I got mine for a fiver on Ebay!

I'm pretty sure that model was my first ever watch. I was about 7; so 23 years ago.

All nostalgic now...

This just in.... I've only just discovered Seiko from browsing this thread. Hard to think that my Longines, for example, cost over eighteen times the price I got this for - they are an absolute bargain, and I think this Five is the best looking watch in my small collection. My new daily:

Nice - how are you getting on with it? I was all set on buying one, but read a few horro stories on the net about the rubber being easily damaged and needing to go back to IWC to be re-done!

I ended up buying the non-chrono Aquatimer. Lovely watches and very understated.

I have not had any problems with the rubber finish (yet) but I don't wear the watch all that often as it tends to be a tight fit under shirt cuffs. Most IWC watches tend to have a thick case and the Galapagos sits quite proud on the wrist. This would make it prone to catching and I guess if you caught it on something abrasive/sharp - the rubber finish could get damaged. Other than this, it is however a comfortable watch to wear and I like the IWC look.

Not sure I'd want a watch that big, but it'd make a lovely design for a clock.
