Omega x Swatch Collaboration

I got mu hands on a Pluto from Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago.
Very impressed with it.
very comfy on the wrist and light as a feather,
Seems to get quite a bit of attention as well.
I bought a couple from a well know chinese distibutor as well.
Venus and Uranus,
Main differences are - stitching isnt quite as neat and the buttons dont click or really do very much!
£20 delivered though, will wear at somepoint....maybe.

My son tried to get a Neptune yesterday from Trafford Centre, Manchester. There were 50 Asian lads in black puffer coats, all at the front of the queue.
Apparently, they arrived together on a coach and started queuing around 10.00pm the night before. They all bought one watch each. All stock gone.
Conversations in the queue indicated this happened last time Moonswatches were arriving in Manchester. Once bought, watches were offered to people in the queue for £600.
I guess there is nothing that can be done in these situations. It is all legal. They arrived, they queued, they purchased, they got the stock. It is all organised as money making opportunity to flip the watches.
Just wanted people to be aware of this.

Picked up the special edition Mission to Neptune Moonshine this morning.
Was not planning to get it as already have the Mission to Moon and didn’t even realise this was coming out until last night. Had a free morning and after queuing for an hour managed to pick one up.
When do they release all the other variants with a gold second hand shoved on?Was not planning to get it as already have the Mission to Moon and didn’t even realise this was coming out until last night. Had a free morning and after queuing for an hour managed to pick one up.
Talk about devaluing the product in a short "space" of time (no pun intended)

Swatch/Omega seem complicit in this. I wonder if the puffer lads are being tipped off by mates in the shop on what is arriving.
Doesn't reflect well on either brand - Easily fixed by making them available online.
Indeed. That's a very poor show.Doesn't reflect well on either brand - Easily fixed by making them available online.

Erm, the Neptune was widely advertised on their on socials as to when it'd be available (ie 30th August worldwide). Nothing shady about it, resellers will queue for anything limited they can get their hands on be it watches, trainers, clothing etc. Making it online would actually be worse as they'd scoop even more up with bots.
I didn't say there was anything shady about it. I said it was a poor show.Richard-390a0 said:

Because it's a part of the descriptive nature of painting a picture whilst retelling a story. Do you find it offensive they mentioned the colour of their puffer jackets too!?! If he'd typed "fking Asians" or "Asian wkers" then it would be different.
What colour car do you drive or is that also a problem question ?

If its a fact that they were "Asian" it is a part of the narrative, a descriptor of them. Like "Blond" or "German".

How would the story have been any different if he had said '50 people' for example.

Sorry your reply to someone saying they were "tipped off" suggested some underhandedness in terms of how Swatch released them. Was just pointing out it was far from it, they couldn't have been more transparent. I do sympathise with the situation, I refuse to pay resellers who hoover up releases just to make a profit on them. There's really no easy way to ensure these go to people who'll actually wear them as many retailers in the sneaker/trainer market understand all too well.
It helped me to imagine the scene outside the shop and in the queue with a reasonable degree of accuracy. So, yes, it helped the story to be an accurate mental image.
50 people got out of a bus and queued up sets a pretty vague image of a mixed gender/race and clothing crowd.
50 Lads of Asian origin in Puffer jackets paints a much more accurate picture of an organised coach load of people who are all one demographic and gender.
If you think its racist that's a you problem, not a me problem.
