Cheers for the replies.
The dealer has sourced a DSSD for me at rrp (£7,070) but is offering 3 years 0% credit. I'm going to have a look at the wach tomorrow but am still not convinced the above offering is a goer.
Sourced? I'm not being cheeky, but most dealers are sitting on at least one SDDS... All of the 3 Edinburgh dealers had one in their window around Christmas. There's gotta be a deal to be had imho! The dealer has sourced a DSSD for me at rrp (£7,070) but is offering 3 years 0% credit. Do you not think this is because it is a popular watch? you see Dateajust's in every Rolex dealer without fail, is this beacause they are not popular? jshell said:

He must have sourced it from the safe in the back of the shop.
My local AD, who's given me discount on watches and jewellary in the past, was absolutely adamant that there was nothing he could do on a Submariner when I tried to buy a new one from him once a couple of years ago. And it was a clear "if you can do something I'll take it" on a watch he had in stock. He couldn't, so I didn't.
Eventually got a GMTII a year or two later secondhand, but such were the price rises (new and used) in the meantime that I actually paid the price the original new watch would have been at the time!
And they've gone up more since (the new and the used prices), not that I've any intention of selling it, so it now seems (almost!) a bargain.

Im not sure where you are based but Fraser Hart and EJ were doing 4 years interest free over Christmas...even on Rolex. They may still be so worth a look.
I tried for a discount at 1st but was told they cant on ss sports models so took the 0% finance. £1500 down. You could always make the remaining cash work for you somehow??
I went for the SDDS....know its not to everybodys taste but it is mine!! Had the choice of a sub-c black and LV, GMT or SDDS......much chunkier and robust, defo a keeper for me!

I got c15% off a lady's datejust in December at an AD. Got quoted same at a non-AD and vat free at Heathrow. Went for local guy as he'd got it in for me, spent hours with every conceivable combination with my wife etc etc.
From his tone it felt like Rolex were active in not encouraging "deals". He would only cover it in person and even then almost in code! That being said, their margin in these is large, stock is not limited on most models, and so an incremental sale is attractive to them. Rolex look like the stumbling block

Rolex like to keep a tight hold on prices and don't want dealers giving discounts, but it doesn't mean they aren't available.
I've only ever bought my first 'proper' watch new from a dealer. I've learnt buying used get's you much more for your money. I recently acquired a 6 month old sub-c, which was mint for over £1K under list price. The watch was immaculate with the previous owner hardly wearing it.

I have one and don't think it's a very popular piece, hence them sitting in windows. The Daytona (SS) IS popular and still very, very hard to get. You almost never see them sitting about...Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
