The only watch I still regret selling is the Sub I had a few years back. I would also say stretch to it if you can. I also think the Breitling Superocean Heritage range are lovely looking and iconic have them at well below your budget.
As with most things, particulalrly cars and watches, I get distracted easily, the great thing with the Sub (or most other Rolex) are that losses short term are low and long term can be minimal / non existent.
If a diving watch is not a priority, there are some lovely IWC pilot watches on WF and Chrono 24 - I may be wrong but I always think of IWC as being a cut above Rolex / Omega/ Breitling etc. Zenith also have some nice models that are within budget on the used market, and any with the El Promero movement are a good long term bet.

I work a a high end car dealer and have just px'd my sub date against a new speedmaster moon watch. Maybe means I should be selling lower end cars. Anyway happy with my decision, I'd have recommend a look at the speedie, although if a sub you really want save up a bit more like many have said. Ps my subs at Dom Hackett and is lovely, I'm sure he''d have a deal if you asked nicely.
It's funny what some of you are saying about car dealers wearing Rolex's. I've been to a few specialist dealers last week including merc and BMW with a friend who is looking at AMG's and M5's and 3 out of the 4 all had rolex on .
I've also been looking at vans for our business and the business managers at Nissan and Vauxhall both had Omega's.

Forget the usual trotted out brands – overpriced overproduced and over here!
By all means, feel free to bleat like a sheep any time you fancy, but when you've finished, open your eyes to what can really be had for the same money.

Don't even stop to ask questions or deliberate it – just get it bought and enjoy one of the more exclusive brands, where the price paid reflects more on the design and assembly of the watch, rather than bloated profits for the marketing dept to spend.
Of course, me being me, I'd be remiss if I didn't also suggest one of these:

http://mollewatch.webgain.se/information/index.xht... – the chap selling the last one linked, so you know who and what you'd be dealing with.
Anyway, be sure to post up pictures of your Rolex……..baaa…….baaa……

They don't hold their value like a Rolex but at this price range I don't think too much does and unless your a constant flipper do you really care??
But apart from that I've no idea why I spend money on the MB3 !!!

He's right, get something you don't want and then regret it
This.If you want a Rolex Sub, buy a Rolex Sub. Else, you'll always have that hankering and never love what your bought as an alternative quite as much as you should!

If the OP had wanted a Rolex, he'd have bought it already and be posting pics of the box opening ceremony, etc – as he hasn't, and is somewhat unsure, other suggestions that don't revolve around various types of Rolex, have equal merit!PJ S said:

Where did I say not to look at or post alternatives? The Sub was mentioned, that is presumably his favourite, I offered some advice based on buying an IWC before my Sub, which I never bonded with.Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
