If you go over to the Finance forum you can find out why being mortgage free at age 37 isn't necessarily good planning - clue: leverage
I bet that's advice from someone who makes their money by selling you a mortgage. My advice is that it's always far better not to owe money than it is to owe it.
Edit: Tudor without a doubt. TAG does have a certain reputation. (It doesn't deserve the reputation, but it's still there)

Heuer doesn't deserve reputation but since TAG turned Heuer into a cash cow it's no wonder people don't necessarily appreciate TAG Heuer that much. That's why their recently issued models dropped TAG from their dials.d8mok said:
Had a drive over to our local Tudor dealer today and I'm torn between a Black BB or a pelagos.
The only reason I'm drawn to the pelagos is because the titanium Is lovely. But it's a little plain in real life.
The red BB is lovely but I think the novely of red will wear off.
A no date pelagos would be perfect. Pelagos bracelet is much nicer than the BB one. The only reason I'm drawn to the pelagos is because the titanium Is lovely. But it's a little plain in real life.

Decided that the in house movement black bay with black bezel is the one for me. Cash is in place now to buy so i called local Goldsmiths to make sure they have stock but they only have the window watch. Is it normal to only carry one in stock? Should i press for one thats not been on display?

The jewellers have to fund their stock, so why would they want to have lots of the same model of relatively slow moving stock on the books? If it's a Tudor, it will have lots of protective plastic stickers on it. If it has, the shiny bits shouldn't be marked. Give it a once over, if it isn't marked, get it bought

Same applies with watches, so if no discount can be negotiated for the display piece, then let them know they’re losing a sale if they can’t provide a brand new one – you can buy one from any AD, so it’s not as if you’re stuck with only having to purchase from a Goldsmiths store. Then again, you could always contact another store and see what they offer.
They may be the same company, but each store will be eager to generate as much sales revenue as possible.
Display pieces are usually provided by manufacturers or offered at a one-off additional discount.
Regular trade price is probably on a sliding scale – sell more, and the dealer will get a rebate to value of the difference in margins either as sell-through or display stock (if not funded by the manufacturer).
The display watch didnt have any protective film or anything as it was the one i tried last friday when decding which colour i wanted. I suggested getting new one in for me for this friday and ill buy it but was told its not possible.
Spoke to a store about 45 mins away from me who said they will get a new one in for me to collect on friday which is much better. Roll on friday.

I've got a blue Black Bay and my old man has a red and a black.
Absolutely superb, miles better than a TAG at similar money.
Utter nonsense. Nothing more tiresome than the constant Tag bashing, most of the time seemingly because it's the 'done thing'. Absolutely superb, miles better than a TAG at similar money.
