Has the Rolex bubble finally burst? Perhaps it has

Why doesnt the bloke who accused the other one of lying just apologize and move on like a man?
Does it matter. What relevance does it have for the bubble bursting. It’s a retrospective story re buying Rolexes years ago. Had no bearing on today’s market. I don’t know if anyone watches The Timepiece Gentleman on YouTube?
It is a professionally filmed series with one episode a week, which is essentially ‘a day in the life of a grey market dealer’.
Really interesting actually. They show the whole process of buying and selling their stock, including negotiations, prices, margins, how many they sell, arguments, conversations etc. They don’t hide any part of it all.
They get people phoning them up on a daily basis offing them handfuls of watches that they literally just walked out of an AD with. Sometimes the same people phone them every couple of weeks.
For anyone interested in the watch game, it’s a good watch.
This is not one of their weekly videos, but just an extra video to answer questions about where they source the watches from and suchlike. It’s worth a watch:

Yes I've been watching these, I started it with the thought I wouldn't like him (Anthony) but he seems quite a genuine chap.It is a professionally filmed series with one episode a week, which is essentially ‘a day in the life of a grey market dealer’.

I thought exactly the same. When I first started watching, I thought he would be an annoying ‘loves himself college jock’ type guy, but once you get past his fairly deadpan personality, he’s clearly a genuine guy who is passionate about the watch business.
I like the fact they show everything. Even when people con them or defraud them, or they lose money, they don’t hide it. They tell you their profits, how many watches they turn over in a week, what margins they are sticking in each piece, all the stuff you want to know but won’t usually be told by a grey dealer.
Nobody’s going to bet £100,000 on pistonheads.
I doubt the other bloke is going to apologise as he obviously doesn’t believe you.
Why not just prove him wrong and settle for that win and accept you’re not going to make any money out of it.
Personally I always enjoy the threads where someone makes an unusual claim, someone calls them a liar and gets proved wrong.

That is one of the best things about PH I doubt the other bloke is going to apologise as he obviously doesn’t believe you.

Someone casually posts in a thread that they own £17 Million worth of cars or something, inevitably someone jumps on it and calls them a liar, then photos/proof of said cars appear.
If it was me, I wouldn’t be posting about £100,000 bets, I would just post up the proof and embarrass the naysayers.

The one rule i have is never to buy a new watch on credit, always find i get a better discount when paying in full .
Buying a desirable watch like a Rolex is better than cash in the bank at the moment which in real terms is losing value due to the low rates for savers this and massive demand from the far east is what has driven Rolex and other luxury brand values up
I take your point re cash in the bank and desirable watches gaining value but like any purchase be it a watch or a house the increased value is only realised if you are looking at it as an investment item for future resale. Buying a desirable watch like a Rolex is better than cash in the bank at the moment which in real terms is losing value due to the low rates for savers this and massive demand from the far east is what has driven Rolex and other luxury brand values up
I know many people do look at watches in that way now and with good reason, I may be in a minority of buying a.watch to actually wear it but for me I buy very few watches and the ones I do are.to wear and keep so the future values aren't really relevant to me.
I'm not a Rolex customer and not likely to be as like you I buy the watches I like not what I think will gain value hence I sold a Sub to buy a Tudor BB
The game has changed massively over the past few years, before sports models were easily attainable with a bit of digging and I got a steel sub/gmt/Daytona all at or below list. My last purchase was a rose gold Daytona in 2012 which I got for 25 percent lower than list @ 18.5k (list was 25k) now they are going for for 35k+. Crazy times.

My best mate agrees, he thinks 2 tone roleys are for wkers however i can’t help but feel drawn to it, however it’s a big jump from my red grape OP which I hardly wear.As for the thread title, the bubble definitely hasn’t burst as according to google, my watch has gone up £300
Actually on further inspection, mine being a 36, some seem to be up for more than 2k extra
