Rolex Sea-Dweller 50th Anniversary Edition
Discussion
I was going to keep it but to be honest I don't really like it,I've got a D blue and a Sub and it doesn't look a lot different from them! I was really hoping that Rolex were going to do it with the green gradient dial? I sold it for £12700. I'm happy with that as there are about 40 plus on Chrono 24 now for less than I sold mine for.
I was number 6 in the queue at my AD but they have since told me they have decided to scrap the list because it was getting massively oversubscribed and regular customers were complaining so now they will just allocate to preferred / loyal customers. Same for Daytona. Seems fair - It had got a little silly so something needed to be done.

Well that is rubbish, I'm on a list...well I hope I am, wanting a watch to keep and sounds like the regulars who then flip just ruins it for those that want to buy, and keep, one watch...
I'll have to speak to the AD and confirm they at least are still using the list to allocate.
They're doing it to try and stop the flippers. When a new Rolex comes out, the flippers call every AD within a massive radius and just flip them as they come in. To be honest, with the number of watches I've bought from my AD I would expect that some level of loyalty runs both ways.I'll have to speak to the AD and confirm they at least are still using the list to allocate.
I wouldn't worry over it too much. Once the AD's start getting more stock and the flippers start reducing the prices then most names on the list either pull out or when the AD rings them they say "Oh, I'm not in the market for one today..". I can't see Rolex complaining too much either - after all it's a nice problem for them to have, and it sells other models. Only downside is if there is a price rise or two in the meantime..
So if EVERY AD removes the stickers and keeps the warranty card for 3/6 months, then what?
The guy who is now willing to pay £7k more for £9k watch that he wants for HIMSELF and would remove the stickers when he gets it home anyway will do what????
That guy won't be interested in an unmarked watch with no stickers or will he only be willing to only pay £5k more???? It's not like no stickers is going to put people off completely and stop the flipping, stickers will just be a thing from the past
No warranty card for 3-6 months, they're not "deeds" or a logbook, I'm sure people will find ways of ensuring the card will be passed on when the original buyer receives it!
I LOVE peeling the stickers off, LOVE finding the obscure tiny ones

Whats with this peeling the stickers off?
Sounds a bit like round here, where the locals leave the delivery & export stickers on their car windows. They seem to have matured a bit from the old days where they left the plastic on the seats.
I don't THINK anyone is mad enough to wear them with stickers on but I think it's an obsession with absolutely knowing for SURE that the watch is absolutely, definitely 100% unwornSounds a bit like round here, where the locals leave the delivery & export stickers on their car windows. Though the whole thing is a bit mental, like I said before, if you could no longer leave the shop with the stickers on then they'd all be like that and it would make no difference to the flipping world
As you mentioned with the car world, there was a funny obsession years ago with Integrales having plastic on the rear door cards, maybe they did come from the factory like that in 1995 but I'm sure almost all were covered retrospectively to look "extra special"
I think people should keep the wheel protection discs on their newly delivered cars just to prove they definitely have a NEW car
