Would you buy one if it looked like this? https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=62684...
I picked up one of those £90 "Black Bay" type watches on ebay and I'm surprised how nice the brushed bronze PVD finish is. It's closer to the copper tone you would expect from bronze than an actual Black Bay is, which to me looks more like brushed brass.
It's keeping good time, though the auto winder is noisy and not in a nice way. The bezel feels coarse when you turn it, but it works and the lume is good. It came with a stainless steel deployant so I swapped that for a brushed rose gold buckle which was the closest colour match I could find. I would not take the chance of testing it in the water, though the screw down crown feels sturdy.
Overall I'm really pleased with it. It's just such a pleasant and eye catching combination of colours, that I will definitely be googling for more bronze watches later.

Yesterday I went out and bought this:
Overall, i think it's absolutely terrific and i'm really taken with it. I got it for £335 and looking at it i think that's a bargain. It looks like it should be much more expensive.
There are, however, four downsides which i'll list from least to most irritating:
4. It isn't the most legible watch going. It's essentially silver hands on a silver face and the dagger hands are similar in length, so in certain light conditions it's hard to read at a glance.
3. It's surprisingly thick for a dress watch at 1.4cm.
2. The face has a quite clever tinge of blue that's more noticeable in certain lights and from certain angles than others. However the second hand, date hand and tip of the power reserve indicator are a very dark blue that for the most part looks black. It's classy it its own way and i'm sure some would love it, but personally i'd have preferred a lighter shade of blue.
1. As ZesPak (who also has one) pointed out to me on the other thread, the strap it comes with isn't good. Rather than being a matt finish it's gloss, which i think would only really work if you were at a black tie event.
Fortunately my number one annoyance could be sorted easily enough and within four hours i'd changed it:
You can hopefully see that the original strap on the right is reflecting an awful lot more light.
I wanted to keep the blue stitching, the idea being that my Zenith has a red dual time hand and red stitching and the Seiko would be blue/blue. In picking the Zenith up I remembered I'd changed the strap on my other Seiko to have an orange stitch. I clearly have an obsession with coloured stitching:
