The first of my replacement watches turned up at last, after having been stuck in a FedEx site for a week.

I knew I'd have to change the strap.

Before:

After:

I'm pleased with it, and have a couple more watches inbound.

Thanks Bobbers. I like Spinnaker but I'm not sure what they were thinking when they stuck it on a tan strap.

I like a tan strap but they are just magnets for dirt and scratches!

That's definitely been the case with the ones I've bought off Aliexpress up to around a tenner; they always seem substantial enough but the dye feels painted on and scratches within a minute.

Which reminds me, I'm after this look for my fauxplorer... Anyone got a recommendation for decent strap supplier, up to (say) 30 quid...? Very happy to pay a lot less!

How about this? It’s not the greatest pic mind but I don’t have it on that strap anymore. It’s a 20mm Barton Ginerbread leather/linen white stitching. It’s amazingly comfortable.

ETA

I’ve currently got mine on this ‘Rubber B’ from Ali Express.

The €55 Hanowa on its new €5 AliExpress deployant strap. I’m rather pleased with it. This is how it’ll stay.

The strap was from HENGRC Official Store. Postage was pretty quick, I’d recommend.

I've bought some really nice straps from

https://www.ukwatchstrap.co.uk

All way below £30 and very good quality.

Good strap Intel there, chaps. Will research carefully this evening.

I always have to be careful when ordering anything in tan. I bought a pair of 'tan' loafers from a shop opposite a cafe in Nice during Euro 2016, heavily influenced by a prodigious intake of Belgian beer and pastis. When I tried them on (sober) the following morning, they (a) didn't fit and (b) were clearly bright orange - the colour a radioactive tangerine. It was Sunday morning and my flight home was in two hours so I kept them and persevered with them for a month until my family ordered me to get rid...

.. so will order with care this time.

Yes sir. I’m gonna swap the dial over to my Batman GMT eventually.

My latest acquisition - a Newmark Field 52 with Ivory dial. I've been looking for one for about a year but being a microbrand they are made in small batches and when it's gone it's gone. Found this one used on the well known action site. Came with original unused Nato strap and a San Martin beige coloured leather strap but think it looks very good on a Watch Gecko sailcloth strap with cream stitching.

Came in well under budget at less than £150

I wanted an older style watch from the year I was born (1994), and always liked the small Swatches (I have toothpick wrists), but didn't like the style from that year, so settled for one the year my girlfriend was born instead (96).
New job coming up which is completely office based, so I can actually have something like this, rather than the Inox Victorinox that I wear now for work biggrin

I don't like gold watches, or a leather strap, but there's something about this that I like..
£45 from Chrono 24, making its way from Italy at the moment

I like that.

I think my strap hunting may take some time. In the meantime, in my new guise as full time Pagani fan boy, I've got this 'incoming'...

Some of the detailing on that looks very appealing from the promo pics. Gotta be better than my current BB replica (£14 off Wish during Lockdown) biggrin
