There has never been a waiting list for the watches to the right of the photo. Obvious troll.

I thought he was pointing out that there were no “lists” for pre ceramic GMTs at the time they were for sale as new (pre 2007)

Perhaps he thought your post was a bit boastful and crass?

I wasnt trying to be clever just pointing out they can be bought at RRP and not from WF at silly prices. As were some if my others! Or am i niw being crass!! Lol To be honest im only joking, prices on the used market are silly now,its such a shame because the people that really do want them are finding it hard as they are being bought by people that probably only want one for bragging rights and dont appreciate it?

So if the original BLNR is discontinued, is it preferable to have a particular year as an investment?

For example, is a 2014 launch year model worth more than a 2017 model?

There aren't, to my knowledge, any dial differences across the years it was produced (such as font differences). For now, newer models with long warranties will have the premium and overall, condition will be king.

I’m on list for a few pieces with AD I’ve used before. AD contacted me this morning, not for any of the pieces I’m waiting for but to advise they had an unworn Batman on oyster bracelet in and was I interested? Stock held back to be sold on once discontinued for a premium? Possibly...

Anyway, I said yes, absolutely and made an appointment to pop along a couple hours later with a view to doing the deal. Whilst en route I got a message to say the watch was being sold to another random punter who walked in off the street. I was within 100m of the store at that point - seriously not impressed!

That said, here I am on a Friday night venting & moaning about a missed luxury watch purchase. If that’s the worst thing to happen to me this weekend, I guess I’m doing ok.

Awaiting a PHer to pop up with the “you’ll never guess what I found walking past AD today?!” post hehe

You’ll be best placed to judge but that sounds to me like a made up scenario by the AD. They don’t chance upon a Batman, go to the trouble of calling people and then sell it to a walk in.

I’d say they were testing your responsiveness and maintaining your interest in them by being made to feel special.

And I’m calling custard on this. These look like images taken from online. That photo and the other appear to be separate collections.

Happy to be proven wrong.

That’s very kind of you,

I think it is a lot about being in the right place at the right time. There are three of my work colleagues who have BLNRs that I know of, all bought them in the UK and all were first rolex purchases,

One just walked into a dealership and one had just arrived.
One knew a dealer from school and bought it through him. The dealer then got another one and asked his friend if he knew anyone who wanted one and it went to the third bloke who bought it purely as an investment.

What would you all do if you were dealers? Sell them to people there and then ready to buy them and maybe your friends and their friends or go around phoning up people on lists who may or may not be in or in the country or even still want one etc.

The worst way to get one must be by being on a list, especially if you don’t really know the dealership people very well.

Hadn't even considered that as a possibility - I genuinely don't think that was the case but who knows. If it was some sort of test, it has seriously backfired as I am escalating my complaint at how I've been treated. It was so unprofessional and if that's how they do business, it won't be with me going forwards. I have no doubt they won't lose any sleep at the loss of one customer and the world will keep spinning on it's axis but there is no way I could just suck it up, move on and still consider spend large (or any!) sums of money there.

I can understand your ire - somewhat frustrating. I hope your patience is rewarded
