I went back to one of those three times last week, great looking watch, and built like a tank, but! it is very thick and in the end I decided it sits too high.
Yes I know what you mean. I have got used to thick watches. I love that ball you could use it to know nails in and it would miss a beat. Love how it has 2 screws keeping the bracelet on etc etc.

A spaceview version is on my list,

For my money at the price I'd be looking at a Planet Ocean or an Aqua terra:

I'm slightly biased as I have one exactly like this, works very well in pretty much all circumstances, though a bit "dressy" feeling at weekends with jeans.

Your other option, if you're not that into watches, is to get more than one ;-) If you did that, you could get a very nice dress watch and a sports watch, something like this pair:

Yes - I know the Tag is quartz, just throwing it out there. I think of all of those, I'd buy a Planet Ocean though.

There are so many lovely watches to choose from that you're well spoilt I think!
FWIW, The Bell & Ross watches are lovely. I've got a Space 3 which I've used as a daily for some time now and it's always getting comments from those that know. Didn't get it for that but it's a little out of the ordinary which you might be after?

The Ball Engineering watches are nice and the lume is truly wonderful. The Luminova on the bezel is a little bit poor IMO and the earlier comment about quality needs to be put into context. Is it as well made / nice as some of the other watches you can buy for the money, or less? Probably not but it's a solid and I think well engineered item. Just depends on whether you want refinement or substance I think.
The EHC features water resistance to 1000ft and is supposed to be shock proof, and can perform at -40deg c. It can't be that poor quality. (I have yet to test it though!)

Some of the more unusual brands (German) mentioned here I feel are worth a look and I don't think you can go wrong with an Omega. They're popular and of course you won't feel so unique but definitely a quality item.
Ultimately you need to decide on what you want to wear it for. There's little point in having it if you don't wear it for fear of damage for example.

Good luck with your search and spend a long time trying them all on!

Went to look today and got one, had my heart set on a speedmaster but after trying a few versions of that on ended up going for the seamaster planet deep ocean in silver, found it the easiest to see when on which I struggled with the speedmasters. Very happy with it so far and its weird using the thing to tell the time instead of my phone.

Good advice on the vouchers and haggling, agreed a discounted price which when I tried to use the vouchers to pay the bulk of it they refused to discount it, after a chat with the manager ended up getting the agreed deal.

Yeah I wasnt amused at the time, they kept going on about not being able to get discount when using insurance claims but the vouchers had corporate stamped all over them!!

Glad to have helped OP. Vouchers are the same as cash. It's the age old trick of knowing you have a captive customer who can't go elsewhere and they know they have you cornered. Doing the deal first put them, not you, in a corner. As regards insurance claims, I can't quite see how that comes into the equation and has more than a whiff of BS about it. Do I sense a pint coming my way?beer

Lol I work in sales for a living so it was just the age old waiting game, needed to switch it from me wanting to buy the watch to them wanting to sell me it, took longer than I expected must admit but got to the end result that wanted.

Yeah I pointed out they are the same as cash plus had corporate stamped on the front so were not an insurance claim either.

Will send you a pint in the post lol
