That picture has been on the 'A' boards outside their shops and in their windows for many years.
And it's very poor.
The Day and Date don't line up!
Going by the recent quality issues it's probably quite accurate! biggrin

Hopefully it has the trademark misaligned bezel too.

Given that is a main window display, it’s a really poor product photograph choice.

(Did they ever actually sell the ‘mysterious brand’ SKX007 in the U.K?)

If so, Timpsons can replace the battery for you.

Not mine but I just saw this on Chrono 24.

Seems optimistic to me, but what do I know? Also looks a lot more beaten up than what I’d expect for “Very Good” condition it’s been described as.

Are people really paying £600+ for an orange monster in that sort of condition?? It was a sub-£200 watch when they were new!!

Yup. Monsters are having a bit of a moment, especially the first generation.

Hmm - having been sorely tempted to get a GS Quartz by the “appreciation” thread - I reckon it might be good time to sell mine then and get something towards the GS fund. Mines Identical to that one in the photo but much better condition. Is Chrono24 reasonably safe and hassle-free to sell on? I’ve never sold a watch before so not really sure what to do but eBay sounds like it’s become a bit of a hassle in recent years.

I’ve never used it before personally, but people around these parts seem to like Chrono24.

I sell my watches via Kibble Watches personally, James is very efficient to deal with and has a good audience for things that aren’t just Rolex/Omega.

ETA: Kibble has a 2nd Gen. Monster on at the moment for £850 if that helps wink

Really? I think I paid £195 from Creation Watches for mine - including the shipping costs!

For what little it's worth, I wouldn't give up a Monster, especially a first gen, for a quartz GS.

Interesting. Can you elaborate on why?

It’s totally bypassed me if there’s a collectable element to these now. Not that I dislike it, but just interested. Can’t see much about them online, other than the sale prices in Chrono24 and eBay.

Worth keeping hold of you think?

What I said above has nothing to do with the collectability or value of the monster, rather, it's that quartz element of the watch.

A monster does it for me, a quartz GS doesn't because it's quartz.

That's just me though, and most would probably disagree with me!

Edit: I do actually have lots of quartz watches that I love smile

I checked my old emails. Sold mine for £76.97 in Jan 2009 on eBay...!

£600 seems high. My brother got good money for his a few years a go though. I’ll keep mine for sentimental reasons, but rarely wear it.

If you don’t want it and the money can go into something you do really want, why not?

Agree, if you want the GS more than the Monster then go for it - take advantage of the recent bump in resale values to help the transition.

The GS will be a much better quality watch, and if you have no real sentimental attachment to the Monster then why not.
