For me, it's just that rubber doesn't breathe, so it sticks to your wrist.
For me it’s that sun cream ruins the finish on rubber straps if they are at all matte.

Ah! But that will give it the used look. Much coolness. NATO's are great but the holes never seem to be in the right place for me and if it's a heavy watch then the holes stretch. I'll see how I get on with the rubber and take it from there. A good quality bracelet is probably the best in terms of fit and comfort but I don't want it to look too blingy.
I'm also running out of time. I hope the bloody thing arrives before I leave!

I bought a selection of 24mm straps and the DH is my only watch (Apart from Panerai) that uses such a size , see any here you fancy , sure we can do a deal , I like the tropical one to be honest so wont be using any of them

Let me know what you’d want for the NATO and the one with the orange stitching (immediately to the left of the watch as you look at your picture). Send me a pm and I can bank transfer cost and postage to you.

I have one of these as my holiday watch. They are superb for the money. The one thing I never got on with was the rubber strap though. They are great on a NATO.
Ordered one in the HSamuel sale - but something tells me I’m not going to see it (now not showing on site).

That JLC moonphase is lovely!

the seiko is brilliant, nato straps i'm not such a fan, slower to put on, can get sweaty if you're subject to that, a solid metal braclet or the original rubber is perfect beach/pool combo
So Natos get sweaty, but rubber doesn't? I don't like Natos because they are too flimsy and too bulky at the same time, but rubber straps are just a PITA for me.
Obviously rubber straps get sweaty (personally, even more so than on a nato), it just doesn't soak in and start to smell horrendous, like natos seem to. And when you get a nato wet it's all soggy. No thanks! I had the seiko on the original rubber strap for about a week until the bracelet turned up.

Sorry, my earlier reply sounded a bit confrontatonal - it wasn't meant to be. smile

I recently put my Bremont back onto its rubber strap, following a conversation on here, and I hate it again.

Now on the hunt for a decent bracelet that doesn't cost over £500 like the OEM one does.

Me too smile I'd completely forgotten about it. I still love the little buttons on the front.

Silicone's the same as rubber to me. I prefer to wear my watch a little loose (I can get my forefinger under the strap at the buckle, but not at the sides), and silicone or rubber just tend to stick to me.

Leather, sailcloth or metal are my preferences. The problem with the Bremont is that it's so thick, it needs a chunky strap or it looks a bit silly. The OEM rubber strap looks good, but doesn't work for me. I should have paid more for the bracelet version in the first place, but there was no UK stock at the time, and I didn't want to wait...

Well, looks like I was in luck. Very comfortable just trying it on now but will have to decide if it’s a keeper....

I can’t remember if it was on here or the “Wrist check” thread where. Was asked about any duties/taxes on my Dan Henry 1970. I’ve just posted on the wrist check thread, but I can confirm the watch was shipped by UPS from Germany, so there weren’t any taxesbduties at all on it. The USD $250 price I paid on the website (about £185 I think) was what I paid, nothing at all on top of that (shipping is also included in the $250).

I’ve spent a few quid on the pictured NATO (via Liner33 from here, no idea where he got it from originally, sorry), which I stuck on it yesterday it on yesterday and I think looks really good.

Not had time to do picks yet, but the Fortis Cosmonauts Chrono I snagged from Aus in Feb arrived on Sunday courtesy of my sister-in-law.
The Seiko SLA025 should land tomorrow, but I’ll be travelling to Le Mans.
That just leaves the AlpinerX via Kickstarter whenever that turns up (originally promised during May) and then I really am done for a while.
