Let's see your Seikos!
Discussion
This seems like a good place to ask rather than starting a new thread - I'm looking for a mid-range Seiko Automatic. I have an ancient battered 5 sports automatic on a nato, a couple of other cheap fun beater watches and a Carbon Fibre G-shock that I wear daily for work and in the workshop etc, so I'd like something on a Bracelet for 'best'. Dont want Chrono, dont really want a massive Diver Bezel (although something subtle might work).
I particularly love the interesting textures and colours used on a lot of the mid range Seikos, like the sharp edege Presage and some of the other Prospex versions. I really like the recent Alpinist recreations though - it seems to fit exactly what I'm after - not OTT/complex and will work with shirt and tie.
Theres the SPB249J1 - Alpinist 'Deep Lake' which appears to be a current model, £650 everywhere which I can just stretch to.

Or this similar variant, the SBDC159 - https://www.sakurawatches.com/seiko-prospex-alpini...
Which appears on a variety of websites for around £450 - I dont know the legit-ness of these sites, nor can I work out the difference - its spec-for-spec, but a different code, and the 'official' photos are not good enough to tell the difference between the dials.
Can anyone work out - is this a JDM variant of the Deep Lake version above?

(Its so frustrating that the 'official' PR shorts are always nowhere near as good as those in reviews, blogs, etc!)

According to the link below ..Two pinstripe colorways, in the style of the reimagined 1959 Alpinist series that was announced earlier this year, were introduced with the blue dialled SPB249J1 (JDM SBDC159), and the brown SPB251J1 (JDM SBDC161). Both models have a 6R35 automatic movement, sapphire crystal, and are housed in a stainless steel case measuring 46.2 x 38 x 12.9 mm. The SPB249 comes on a bracelet and the SBP251 comes on a cordovan strap.
You might get some value looking through here for all Seiko 2021 watches, albeit without prices so good luck .. https://www.plus9time.com/blog/2022/01/01/all-2021...

Brilliant - that confirms my thoughts in bold - they are the same - they just give the euro/world version a different code and the 'name' of Deep Lake. I'l look at whether its worth the savings to import one then pay the duty compared with just ordering direct from a UK seller...

Seiko Boutique Exclusive and 740 but sure you could find it for less elsewhere.
I had seen that one, and have looked - you cant! Theyve gone for more than RRP at auction. When I actually think about it - I prefer the Blue (Lake) to the Green (Forest) version anyway. The one I'd really like is the Ginza -

But its double the price if you can find one.

It is; it's the Lighteight version.
https://heinnie.com/spyderco-para-3-lightweight/
Feels quite cheap in hand given the lightness but still a nice thing.
