Thanks.

I got lucky with this one (I think). It's 9 months old. Perfect condition and unused steel bracelet (until now).

Its a standard hesalite glass version, with everything included.

The gent I bought it from is saving up for a pre 2008 GMT Master 2, and this was the last watch he sold to fund the purchase. I paid £2.6k for it which seems to be a good deal.
Yes, definitely a good deal as everything is there with the package and it all looks like new. I've got what works out to be just over 13% discount on offer with an AD for the Hesalite.

I'm wondering whether I can do slightly better but I've got a few days to make up my mind. One thing is for certain - I want the watch, it's just getting the best deal.
Dom Hackett's got them for less than that hasn't he?

He has indeed. I just wondered if I could get close to that from an AD 'up north' and get the bracelet sized at the same time as collection (a bit lazy, I know).

I paid £3050 last month for mine. Brand new from a well know PHer

Edited to add, just read the above posts, I visited Dom to pick it up (bring a big bag the box is huge) and he resized it there and then for me

Nice price for a brand spanker.

How are you finding it?

This is what I intended to do - visit Hackett Watches. But it would turn into a trip & a weekend in London which we have done in both February & March (unusual for us). If I can get at least 15% at an AD around here, I'll be happy. I've always found in the past that you do better by visiting a dealer rather than trying to negotiate over the phone which is time consuming. Then there is the question of how much your time is worth etc and is it worth the hassle etc etc.

This love of watches that we have is a vicious circle... rotate

Not a watch, but a book I am very much looking forward to reading.
Great book that.. take your time over it as I rattled through it a bit too quickly.

I can also recommend a book called The Watch: Thoroughly Revised. This new edition came out earlier this year with new contributions from one of the Hodinkee guys.

Exactly my thoughts, so I have been reading it slowly and savoring it.

Drunk browsing eBay resulted in these two coming to me from China:

Horrible fakes.
Not fakes. They don't pretend to be either a Panerai or Rolex.
On the other hand if you're daft enough to believe they do...smile
they absolutely do pretend though..., in all but name
Who knows. They might be 'delightful Homages'.

The Rolex Sub is a rip-off of a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms anyway!
the crown bridge mechanism is a registered trademark of panerai, you put it on any watch it means its a panerai no matter what is on the dial

so its a fake

Seiko Prospex ‘Grey Dawn’ limited edition, #994 of 2018.

Quite a lovely thing.

Very nice. I recently bought one of these, it's the first Seiko I'd handled since 1996. It's very well made and fantastic value for money...

Love it! Quite discreet (a couple of watch guys in the office but apart from that it's flown under the radar) which I like.

It's also quite light compared to a couple of my other watches. It's a keeper

Love something purpose built like that. What is the price and water resistance?

That’ looks very appealing. How large / chunky are the Samurai series?

I picked it up yesterday at ADEX in Singapore for SGD$299 (special price for the dive exhibition as long as I tagged it on FB smile ) 299 is about 165 GBP

water resistant to 100m- but diving limit of air/ nitrox diving is only around 40-50m or so

It’s a dive computer - can handle air or nitrox diving. Is rechargeable and Bluetooth linked to my iPhone.

nice big screen for my middle aged eyes needing reading correction hehe ..

My old Suunto D4 is getting hard for me to read and doesn’t have a properly lit screen for night diving.
