Worn once apparently.
All papers etc.
I can afford to buy it. Whether I can afford to keep it is another matter! Mrs TH would notice pretty quickly re money!
Worth keeping until the 50th anniversary next year as a punt IMHO, I quite fancy a black one to go with my polar version wink
Perhaps Laura is a little more understanding than Mrs TH? smile

For most people, yes, although the original Root Beer was more brown than black. Annoyingly with 3 links taken out it’s way too small for me so it will be tricky to borrow it smile

Just for the uninitiated here, in what way does it differ from the "usual" Gmt? And what is the "usual" Gmt?

“Standard” GMT is black bezel and dial I believe

In the Rolex world, any non-black colourway of the same model makes it unique rolleyes

Apart from the fact Rolex don't make a black dial, black bezel GMT these days.

Boy , that's a lot of non-answers spin

So the brown one looks a lot different to one that is the normal one, but the only difference is that it's just a little less black? But in fact a "normal" one isn't actually sold?

confused

I think, essentially, there used to be a black faced black bezel GMT. 'Standard', if you like. Then there are the variations: batman, coke, pepsi, root beer etc. These are all "quite different" from the 'standard' watch because they have different colours on them, and they each get their own cutesy name.

Just did some googling... "quite different" isn't really how I would describe them indeed.

I'd definitely take him up on that - you can't really lose at that price. If the expected update does come in the spring, this one would be worth even more. Only buy if you actually like it though!

I was channeling Stephen Pulvirent talking about a different watch, but it seemed to fit with the previous exchange laugh

"To my eye, the OP 39 with the white dial is the most purely distilled form of "Rolex" that you could get. It was one perfect unit of exceptional watch"

Congratulations!

I think the thing I’m most curious about is how the case depth feels?
