Yes, its the 124060
Congratulations!

I think the thing I’m most curious about is how the case depth feels?
It feels way more like a five digit sub than its predecessor.

I've been wearing a 126600 Sea Dweller a lot recently and the Submariner feels very slim on my wrist in comparison. I'd never have said that about the 114060. I really like it.

No, I was hoping it it felt AWFUL! :-)

It feels like a 5 digit...... that’s what got me

Chunky is fine, I’m wearing my SD4k now, but my favourite watch by a good margin is my 14060M!

Great but if you post pics of it with a 39mm Explorer and an early 70s Speedmaster, my phone might go across the room! :-)

Tempted to trade my Coke GMTII in for an SD4K - that is my favourite watch of all time...

What's an SD4K trading for these days?

Hi, how are you?

Would you really not regret it??

The pre ceramic GMT is so wearable with it’s size and weight and I really love the older generation of watches now, they have a bit of charm, 70s south of France...

One sold on TZ-UK last week for a shade under £10k, mint and full set.

You like what you like but I too, feel a swap from a pre ceramic GMT would be a wrong move.

Besides, the SD43 wears much more comfortably than the 4K imho.

In many ways, the GMTII is my favourite watch and, because of that fact, sits in a box doing absolutely nothing, in case something happens to it. It has, in effect, become an investment because it has appreciated so much and I don't wear it. I'd be shocked if it had 100hrs of wear since it's service in 2014 (i think). I almost exclusively wear my SubD (on a rubber) and SeaD (on the oyster)... which could probably be replaced for a single SD4K and keep the GMTII, I guess.

Hi Don! Just a bit 'off' watches these days or not so bothered/interested. Long term PH readers know I go through these phases - LOL. Quite fancy having a blue face and bezel put on the SubD to jazz it up a little and see if the love returns. Sometimes feels a bit out of step now that I mostly roll around in a car that is worth 1/10th of what's on my wrist. Must be how the Richard Mille guys feel biggrin

Despite the massive growth in Rolex amongst the young the last few years, you no longer see a sub on every wrist like you used to, in my business. Wonder if I'm feeling a bit ostentatious wearing one (or showing I have a few, swapping them round) these days. It's why the fact they all look the same, at a glance, kind of appeals. My GMTII 'only' cost me £2800 or something in 2013/14, in the US.

No judgement on anyone - oil and gas has a particularly hard time the last ~6yrs and i went from being expat, to contract here and now perm staff. So, there also isn't the money sloshing round the D9 household like there was and I guess I need to be more of a role model at work, which means no tales of huge bills at the bar, the previous night. My Watches remind me of that time. In a good way but the younger ones probably forget we were paid more and watches cost a lot less back then. I'm also grateful to have the opportunity to still be employed and doing well.

SD43 doesn't appeal after I got rid of my DSSD, the year they were released (2010?) - didn't wear well and I'm no stick-wristed waif!

What a fantastic reply. Our circumstances change, as do our tastes, and the people around us. I'm in retail which has gone through the 'massive Panerai' phase, and now seems to be deep into the Apple watch era. Our CEO wears a black G Shock.

The DSSD doesn't fit me at all. I'd agree it wears very strangely being so thick, on a 20mm bracelet. The SD43 is flatter, with much better proportions and a 22mm bracelet that keeps it in place.

D9 I totally understand

Because of what’s happened this year it doesn’t feel right to wear my more expensive watches, they don’t seem to fit with what’s going on / personal circumstances etc.

NOT that they are cheap AT ALL but I think it’s why I’m being drawn to the more reserved Explorer 1

If I think of selling anything, I seem to always be deciding between the SD4k and Batman, the SD4k was bought with a discount and good exchange rate, Batman was bought at list in 2016

I guess the Batman would be easier to replace if I wanted one again? But I’d never buy the watches I have at the prices they are now even if I could afford them, £6,500 forv the Batman was just about justifyable, I would never buy one at today’s used prices.

Arrived today my Orient Kano.

Chosen over the Kamasu or Ray for two reasons. I thought the 44mm case on the Kano would suit my 7 1/2" wrist better than the smaller Kamasu or Ray at 41.8mm. Personal choice obviously.Secondly I had read a few people on forums saying the crown on the Kamasu and Ray could be a bit fiddly being just a touch small when screwing it back down betwen the crown guards. The Kano has a larger diameter crown and feels fine.

The only other divers I have are the bargain basement Invicta Pro Diver and a Vostok. In comparison the bezel action on the Kano is different class. On the Invicta it is OK but uncomfortably stiff. On the Vostok so loose as to be almost useless. The Kano feels very smooth and silky with just the right amount of resistance.. Can't fault it

The bracelet seems Ok. Similar quality to the Invicta. I'll need to take one link out. Anyone with a wrist approahing 8" might need more links than standard.

Overall delighted and looking forward to getting it sized and giving it some wrist time.

You can't compare the two IMHO, they've really nailed the comfort with the new ones-even the new DSSD isn't top heavy any more.

Thanks all... I did wonder whether to even post that or just delete it.

Interesting that the SD43 wears better than the DSSD, which I did find very top heavy. I do think the SD4K is the best looking diver that Rolex have done and I tried one on (in Houston this time, at an AD, no waiting list) and loved it but that was just after buying and having my GMTII serviced, so within weeks of buying my SubD and SeaD. I had spent enough. The sad thing is that I probably paid ~£10k for all 3, which would get me one SD4K now!

However, I think my internal monologue has pretty much resulted in me deciding that the collection will only get smaller from here... As you say; I would never spend £10k on one now. Much like houses (sadly, because I needed to buy one when I got home), watch inflation seems to have outstripped wage inflation the last decade and the young guys in my business wouldn't be able to afford one without a big windfall.

I wouldn't be able to afford one in my staff job with my mortgage...

I bought my first Rolex, my 14060 ND Sub (traded long ago), new, out of the window (no waiting lists) of an AD in Aberdeen for ~a week's wages. It was simply a different time and I love my watches, but they do give me a different 'feeling' now.

I found the SD4K still a bit too top heavy but it's all personal preference, lovely bracelet but I still prefer the alu bezels.

One thing I would say, if you have a local AD it would be worth asking to have a look at a couple that they may get in for someone else. I got my DB 126660 by asking to come in and take a look at one, even a plain black one that was earmarked for someone as I wanted to check out the size and weight.

Alright, it wasn't sized correctly but it gave me enough confidence to say I'd have one whenever I could get one-took about 3 months and they were pretty new back then!

Or just go to a grey dealer and see what they have in-try before you buy! I do think with the rolex sports models you do need to see what fits and is comfy especially with the bigger models. My Explorer II at 42mm is probably the comfiest modern Rolex I own-not something I would have guessed before owning one.
