Please post pictures of the thought, so I can judge whether it was a genuine thought or a cheap replica thought. wink

You're sounding like a nutter. My question was to the forum but you seem to have taken it as a personal criticism.. That wasn't my intention and you have picked me up wrongly. I'm sorry if I've upset you.

Can we please discuss the point I am trying to make without being personal.

Certainly - you are the one who made it personal, by accusing me of talking bollocensoredcks.
Back to normal service, everybody...

If its any consolation, I still love you.

Undoubtedly fakes in the 90’s and from tiny street vendors in less salubrious surroundings are just horrible with wonky dials and logos, cheap bracelets and errors - some of the ones now are so incredible in their detail and accuracy I’m always surprised and thinking to myself ‘why don’t these people just start their own watch company’.

Let's all hug! In a manly way. The old "half hug, slap on the back" way.

Sounds like a fake hug

That's the idea. Like the "Hover hand" you see in pictures, so it looks like you have your arm around them, but you don't actually touch them. See Taylor Swift for examples.

Ok. Let's get back to my question. What's the difference between someone posting a picture of an expensive watch they own and someone wearing a fake. Are they both just showing off?

Both....

Here's one I bought to see if the other was viable as a daily (47mm with a crown bridge)

It's not always about the exact appearance smile and I still wear the Getat

Yes. They're both lovely. But what about my question.

I give up. I guess there's no difference and I'm as guilty as anyone else.

I think it’s a bigger nobber thing when they take a pic of their watch against their car steering wheel badge background - and that’s the photos of the real ones.

No issues with wrist pics but it’s when they’ve gone overboard with the background it’s tragic - it’s like middle aged white dude middle management equivalent of the Instagram attention seeking fitness girls.

Have to agree, I've noticed pics like this on a few watch forums and it is always a Porsche or BMW badge in the background!

Hmm - So if you go somewhere where you expect to be robbed, you draw attention to yourself and end up mugged? I'd prefer to wear a plastic watch if I ventured into such places.

I suggest the "ISIS" Casio. Nobody will rob you, but you may spend a few extra hours at security if you happen to be dark-skinned and have a beard.

Unusual approach.

If it looks like a Rolex (possibly now becoming a bit 'common', IMHO), I'd be surprised if a person on the look out for a 'Rolex' to steal is going to notice that it's a fake (unless it looks really naff, in which case it's not fooling anyone) before they do whatever they intend to do to relieve you of it. Why not just wear a cheaper 'normal' watch.

I wonder how many owners of the Chrysler 300s you see with Bentley badges etc on them also wear fake Rolexes. Just wondering.

I thought my Seiko picture, with the Skoda badge in background, was rather fetching!
