I'd wear that pink Carrera. It's brilliant.

It’s a stunning colour in the flesh. I’ll wear it at some point if I ever get the chance!

I’d prefer the hers too, personally.

Popped in yesterday to look at the new Carrera 36 in pink for my wife. Left with this and the wife’s. I know Tag’s aren’t to everyone’s liking on here but I really like it.
Tag make beautifully finished watches, better than some other makes that cost much more.
Lovely watch, enjoy it.
The pink on your good wife's watch is quite unique btw

Today is collection day for my new pieces mentioned earlier in the thread. Landed in Dubai late last night, meeting Nico from pride&pinion later today, really cannot wait to see the DD in person.

Also have my Studio Underdog limited Arabic dial release currently sat with the concierge in the hotel waiting for me to go and take it.

I've never collected 4 watches in one day before so today should be a good day!

Whilst waiting for the time to pass and I can collect my other watches later, of course I went around all of the AD's in mall of the Emirates.

ALS = poor showing really, 3 watches in the whole boutique. Not accepting any deposits.
AP = quite snooty, 'our demand far outstrips supply, no lists'. Tried on a code 11:59, wears OK but this was a white gold and black ceramic version, I wasn't feeling it. Seemed pissed off I dare swap a cpl of my AP previously for a PP biggrin
VC = stayed about an hour, great chat, they brought out 4 watches. Could have purchased a RG 1921 but bad timing.
Rolex = interesting in that they had loads of DJ and sports mostly showing exhibition only, however people were actively buying DJ's. I was offered a RG DD40 with baguettes as apparently the person that originally wanted it pulled out. Not surprising as it wasn't what I would class as a special piece and you can buy them on trade for 2k under list.

Have to say whilst they look nice I'm not convinced by Studio Underd0g, too pricey

I think they're too pricey for what they seem to be listed for on chrono, at retail I think they're an interesting alternative to other more well known brands at that price point.

Nicely made and finished Chinese watches with Seagull ST1901 gooseneck movements can be had on AliExpress for around £70. It does seem a premium for the branding? I don't mean to be unkind, I really don't, but what am I missing?

It's a lovely thing though, and I like the funky colours across the range.

The first release seem to have as much as doubled in value.

Now they've done a reissue, presumably scarcity no longer carries the same value...

The same could be said of a lot of these micro-brands that do small batch production and sell out instantly. It’s more than just the parts cost, it’s having the ‘cool’ brand like Studio Underd0g/Scurfa/Halios etc

The straps they use cost more than some of the Ali seagulls to be fair.

The jump from £500 to now £750 seems punchy, but they constantly sell out still.

If you buy from an AD in Dubai is it vat free? ie are prices 20% less than UK?

Thanks

You pay the VAT at purchase and claim back the 5% at the airport. Mall of the Emirates gives an extra 1%. No idea on UK prices as haven’t lived there 15years but logic would dictate to me that the Rolex world pricing would never allow one country to be cheaper by 20%.

Sorry, didn't realise you weren't UK based.

My question was poorly worded, you're right Rolex wouldn't allow that kind of discrepancy in pricing. What I wanted to know was the VAT rate and whether they did VAT free shopping for tourists.

Have the answer now, thanks
