I used to have a mint one of those. Picked it up cheaply off ebay as it had a load of paint all over it. When it turned up, the paint came off easily and a quick crystal polish later I had a very nice watch indeed.
You did well! That's about the only way you can get a bargin watch on ebay these days. Buy something that looks destroyed and hope for an easy fix.

This one is pretty minty too, but it came from a bricks and mortar jeweller rather than ebay. Santa has been rather lovely to me this year. I need to be a good boy for another month and a bit, and then I'll be allowed to follow up this teaser photo with some better shots.

If you had a mint condition one, I can't believe you sold it on. It's a gorgeous little watch.
I picked it up about 20 years ago and it was something like £150. At the time they were going for about £350 or so. I sold it a few years ago, so I had it quite a while. I ended up getting the best part of£1k for it when it went.

This image doesn't do it justice.

It's modelled on a Seiko isn't it? wink
Actually Pagani....
I think Seiko is more likely.

Excellent.

What was the thinking behind quartz? I am not saying that's wrong, just curious.

He's not really into watches but he always wears the same black unbranded watch, if I bought him anything too expensive or something he'd have to 'maintain' he'd not wear it.

Makes sense. I would always buy a quartz for a lady for the same reason.

I am wearing a PRX at the moment and it punches way above its weight in terms of comfort.

Half the price of the automatic version + lower maintenance? Makes sense for a youngster I'd suggest.

I think the quartz is still right, if he has little interest in watches.

The automatic is twice the price and he won't enjoy having to reset it, if he doesn't wear it for a few days.

Not a new watch - but a new strap.

Been looking for a 24mm Marine Nationale NATO for my PAM for ages. Finally found from from Esprit NATO based in France.

I agree. Your wife has good taste, almost as good as that of my wife!

I’ve ordered a Christopher Ward Aquitaine bronze as shown in the picture. For reasons unknown I’ve been hankering after a bronze watch for a while, looked at a Breitling Super Ocean, Rado Captain Cook amongst others. The Ward is priced about right for “an itch to scratch” purchase. Should arrive in a few days & I’m already looking forward to it turning green & manky then cleaning it with a cocktail of ketchup, toothpaste & bicarb ;-))
