Has the Rolex bubble finally burst? Perhaps it has

This thread has turned rather benign lately. Isn’t it about time someone came along with more sneering comments about Rolex being tasteless chav wear and owners being sheep conned by slick marketing?
’.
I can oblige by agreeing with the above. Baaah to you all. ’.
P.S. There is more than a bit of herd behaviour about the Rolex fashion.

Went into the AD and got added to ‘the list’ for an OP 41 which seemed the right size. Doesn’t wear very big for a 41. Time will tell what happens but no guide as to wait time and it was busy the whole time with Rolex enquiries / appointments. This is not in a big city.
Been on the list for one of these (siler, not a fancy colour) at the AD in Edinburgh ....... since Jul 2021.Not having any buying history and not wanting to buy alternatives may be why I don't have one yet.....

I'm generally not a fan of blue faced watches, and not with gold, but then I am on a list for a blue faced Deepsea so what do I know.
I've never been a fan of gold jewellery in any form and certainly not gold wrist watches but I've always liked the blue faced gold diver for some reason Tango13 said:

To add some balance (and not wishing to be classed as a sheep) I have been looking for a grail watch for sometime now, DRSD to be exact. I found a handful I was interested in (must include boxes, papers, provenance etc.) but it was clear any downturn in other parts of the Rolex market had no impact on these with prices not below £38-40K - a level I was not prepared to pay/invest on a watch. After giving up on the DRSD dream I bought a summer fun car in a nice British Racing Green finish to compliment the Magno Hell Green of the existing toy. I have now seen the rather lovely Kermit that Dom has on his website that would suit the colour hues of both cars and feel I may be contributing to the Rolex market in the near future.
So, in summary some part of the Rolex market are suffering prices falls whereas others are not. Basically business as usual then

I don't think that inflated prices is a specific Watchfinder 'thing', rather it's a general grey market 'thing'. I agree that their prices seem high, but not too much above many other second hand dealers - see Chrono24. In fact, Watchfinder seem reasonably competitive when some models are considered e.g. the GMT Master II 126710 Pepsi which they have for sale from £16950, which I grant you is still crazy money. The cheapest on Chrono 24 is £15584 from a private seller in Puerto Rico (which I wouldn't even entertain, even if I would consider buying a Pepsi at such a mark up) and the cheapest in the UK is £15950, a dealer. There are many more available, unsurprisingly, at more money. If I were silly enough to buy such a thing, I would probably be more willing to do so from a large and well established dealer with a physical presence rather than some one man band operating out of his bedroom (which is what I suspect many internet 'dealers' may be), especially with the proliferation of convincing fakes around.
Don't read this as a full throated defence of WF, it isn't. The massive increase in second hand values is very corrosive for those who just want to buy and enjoy watches rather than profit from their resale, but it's far from a situation resulting just from their pricing structures. I guess it's just because they are the biggest so are an easy and obvious target. I'm wanting to buy an F P Journe chronometre souverain, which makes the annoyances of trying to buy a steel Rolex relatively simple, but as buying one new isn't an option I'm gradually having to accept that I'll have to buy grey, probably from overseas - and at current prices that is taking some consideration.
