I am going to Thailand next week and was thinking about getting a few Super reps just for fun. Any ideas how much I would pay for one in Thailand? I have heard the don't keep the really good ones in the stalls. I am going to Hui hin if anyone has any experience?
And yes I do own a real Rolex sub but just want to get some for research / fun.

I'll confess, I'm tempted by one of these http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_page=produc... I'd never buy the real thing as they're just too pretentious for my taste but the comedy appeal of a fake that does the whole crazy hands thing is quite strong.

So I assume you'll be scrubbing out the manufacturer's name on the fake, just in case anyone thinks you're wearing a very pretentious status symbol?

Honestly, I doubt I'd ever wear it, I just fancy one to look at and watch it do it's crazy thing, I also think it would be a fun project watch to put in a different case.

That's Trusty Time, a bloke called Andrew IIRC. He sells the top end fakes, at top end prices...

Incidentally, if you're going to buy one of the Franck Muller reps... my cousin is an FX trader and likes lairy Muller watches. One of his Mullers is the 'Chocolate' which is a rose gold, chocolate-brown dialed Curvex with date. It's a lovely looking watch, but Muller sell it for silly money when the real deal is an ETA 2824-2 movement.

I bought one of Trusty's fakes for a laugh to wind him up after he was bragging about how he paid 5 figures as it was a limited edition (I'd seen one on sale at the watch centre at Geneva airport on coming back from Verbier so hardly *that* exclusive). The fake looked superb and on dismantling, the ETA movement was indistinguishable from a 'real' ETA. The leather strap was crap so I replaced it with a decent one. I met up with my cousin and within 10 minutes he was ranting and raving about how the hell I'd managed to get the same watch as him. I played along for a while - and even though I gave him the watch to play with, he couldn't tell it was counterfeit until I told him.

Simple stuff like the Muller with the ETA movements are very easily counterfeited. The watch in question is actually really nice, and if the fake weren't so damn good I'd be buying the genuine off my cousin (he wants to sell it now), but the number of times I'd actually want to be seen with a lairy Franck Muller doesn't make 5k+ good value for a very-occasional watch...

As a long time lurker I had to join to answer this one.
I just came back from Hua Hin in January and looked at the watch stalls on two night markets im not sure if they will have the super copies most of the ones we looked at were crap.
However my sons' ( who is a budding watch collector) girlfriend decided she wanted to get him a watch as a present and wanted something over the top. So she went for a U-Boat which I must say is rather a nice copy with out putting it under a lope it seems to be very good . The problem is the crap pound rate has made these a tad more expensive and dispite mucho haggling the best we could do was 2400 baht, it was too steep i recon but she wanted it so she bought it at that price.

I've just had a browse of that site, I quite like the look of this

http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_page=produc...

I doubt I'd wear a fake though.

I have a genuine 16613 and was looking at a super rep 16613 in a store in Malaysia and to be honest i could not tell them apart, the serial number was where it should be and the small crown on the crystal, I was suprised how accurate it was. It would have been very easy for someone to switch it for your real one. I commented on this to he shop owner and he pointed out the only real differance was the actual crystal,he tapped on mine and then on the fake and it sounded a lot different but just by looking it was a very good fake. It was around 350pounds not sure why someone would pay that much for a fake unless they wanted to do a switch

Funnily enough thats a fake i'd be tempted by too. Its an interesting watch and a bit of a talking piece, but not something i'd pay £5k+ for.

I don't know much about the fake trade but im sure even these super reps probably have all sorts of dodgy connections and who knows whose pocket my money would end up in. Finally the only place i see them is on the net, somewhere that sells counterfeit watches probably isn't the best bunch of people to give my credit card details to!

I'm amazed by the range of fake watches on the trusty time website. Some of them look very good reproductions indeed. (Assuming the photos are actually of the fakes rather than originals)

It appears on many fakes you can even specify the movement.
