Sell your collection, can only have one

You have to get rid of all your watches, you can have only the one, considering it has to last a lifetime, can't go out of date looks wise, needs to be reliable, doesn't matter on the cost, pick one.
I've realised I mis-understood the rules, I thought it has to be one of my watches but if it can be any watch I like, money no object, then I choose Patek Phillipe's Super Complication pocket watch, worth approx. $11m, which I would sell and then I'd manage without a watch. If necessary I'd employ someone to tell me the time. Or I'd look at the clock in my Veyron. If your (admittedly immaculately tasteful, from what we've seen) collection is worth PP 'super complication' money then I need to know where you live, old chap
(and no, that was purely a tasteless joke)
The major (and it would be a major) benefit of *me* following this edict, selling my collection but having one watch only, is that I'd most likely come out of the deal with a monster profit. I've got too many watches and I'm sure at least one of them would do me fine as my 'only watch' - leaving the rest as spare cash. So I'd certainly be in beer for a while

I think the rules mean you have to buy the 'only one watch' with the proceeds from selling your collection, as per the thread title...
I assumed it was about just keeping one watch from your existing collection, which is why I choose the SDI'm not sure any of my watches would be a good 'only' watch - if I'd accidentally bought such a piece, then I'd have no need for a collection and since I'd be wearing it all the time, I'd not get any wrist time on the others. So all my watches are compromises Well that's how I justify it to myself.
It's hard not to default to Rolex really for a hard-wearing, decent quality, inhouse movement, long-lived watch that wears well with any clothes. A 'one watch only' policy pretty much requires a 'sports' model purely for resistance to damage in everyday wear. A 2000M diver isn't really necessary but a modicum of water resistance and shock resistance, plus a case and bracelet that aren't going to fall apart easily or suffer too much from scratches from desks, etc. and a clasp that isn't going to come undone accidentally (especially if the watch is expensive!) means most dress watches simply are too delicate, or will require *much* more maintenance to keep looking good.
I'm tempted to agree with you re: the old SD, though I quite like the new Milgauss (lack of date kills it as a daily though).
I really want that new Tudor chrono though

When I said I was sure I'd seen they were available at a Paris AD I knew I wasn't lying...!Your above post made me do a quick search again and I found the post & pic I was referring to on TZ-UK.
Even though the movement is nothing special I rather want one!
The Tudor is nice, have a look at its predecessors - http://www.tudorcollector.com/index.php?option=com...

I'll definitely choose Rolex .Owning a Rolex is like the ultimate status symbol, for rolex watches come at a very steep price, usually outside the income levels of many people. Rolexes come with an air of extravagance and class that very few luxuries offer. Purchasing a Rolex is like buying a piece of history.Rolex watches are always in high demand.
