My dad used to say that the quality of time is tube same whatever watch you are wearing

I used to point out that of you are wearing a £100k watch, you are more likely to be on a yacht in the Caribbean having a quality time than if if have a £5 quartz watch as that means you are likely to be sweeping streets in Coventry.

I go to Coventry fairly often. Nobody is sweeping those streets.

Ive got several watches but dont change them throughout the day. That feels an odd concept to me!

I dont have a winder so I generally tend to rotate once a week.

None of them are kept pristine in the safe, they are all enjoyed rotate

I come from Coventry. This conversation was 45 odd years ago. They did sweep the streets then.

1 if it’s a work only day. 2 if it’s a gym day. Usually a casio for the gym.

Anything more than that we are talking a rare night out but even then I’d probably just wear the dress watch to work. So realistically just 2.

I fully accept that they are just jewellery for blokes, but I genuinely couldn't give a stuff what anyone else thinks about what I wear, whether that's watches or clothes.
Surely the main (if not only) point of wearing jewellery (or nice watches or nice clothes) is to convey a certain image towards other people (because we DO give a stuff what they think)?

Whether we want to admit it or not we care what other people think of us. That's why we brush our teeth, cut our hair, shave, wear smart clothes and why we don't go to work in onesies. The "image" thing also extends to the house we live in, the car we drive, and the type of person we marry. So, unless you're a sociopath you care what your friends, family, wife think about you and you want to portray a certain "image"

One.
This one:

On dress up occasions I'll break out this one:

And, when on holiday, this one:

There are another half dozen or so that I no longer wear but cannot bring myself to sell. I plan on leaving my best friends a watch each in my will.

Okay I have to ask. How does the DEFAKTO work. It only has one hand. Is it currently showing 0030 / 1230. Either way looks smart.

Yes. It's a one hander but with a 12 hour dial and movement (one handers with 24hr dials are more common).

So as you say it is showing either 12:30 or 00:30.

Here's a traditional one hander with 24hr dial. 09:00...

Blimey. Sounds like one of you is comfortable in his own skin, the other not so much. Hint: the latter might be the one who would marry for "image"...

Slight misinterpretation of the definition of 'sociopath' in there, too... an instructive post all round biggrin

Actually it's healthy to care about your image. It's wrapped up in our self-esteem, pride, and confidence. Anyone who says they don't either lives on the streets or is in denial. Watches, cars, houses, gardens - the image you present to others matters to you whether you're prepared to admit it on PH or not.

I'm afraid I agree. Not about the 'sociopath' bit smile . When we choose what to wear, we do so with the opinions of others in mind, at least partly. The same applies to choices we make over watches, jewellery, makeup, hairstyle, cars and so on.

See also tattoos. "I don't care what you think, I have it because it means something to me." So why is it on your back where you're the only person in the world who can't see it?

There are those who have nice things, wear nice clothes, eat nice food, live in nice houses, etc solely because such things bring them pleasure. If they impress others, that's fine, but those people may not care either way. Those people don't have to live in the streets or be in denial. I am one of those people, and happy to admit it on PH biggrin

To answer the OP question, between 0-1. Changing a watch 3 times+ in a day? Absolutely no need.
