Chaps I like to plan ahead.
It's my 40th in 5 years time and I would like to treat myself to a nice watch (as I did for my 18th, 21st, and 30th). I saw the new ceramic Daytona at Le mans this year and fell in love, so I would like to order that.
As you can see I am prepared to wait, but I am not prepared to go on a waiting list and never get to the top, and I'm not prepared to pay overs for one.
I have a few watches but I have not bought enough to build a relationship with any dealer/AD (I have used DomH in the past too), so how would I go about getting one?
Cheers.

"but I am not prepared to go on a waiting list"
er, think about another watch imo as a waiting list is the only way to get one atm or pay £14k for one.
or wing it and see what 2nd hand values are like in 5 years.
even a unworn Daytona is £10k atm.
So all a bit bonkers.
prices will fall as supply gets going.

Sorry, what I meant was of course I'm more than happy to go on a waiting list but only if it's a real list with me moving gradually to the top!er, think about another watch imo as a waiting list is the only way to get one atm or pay £14k for one.

Go to an authorised dealer, pay your deposit and join the waiting list. I have no doubt you will reach the top well within five years. If the AD you choose will not play ball, try another one, there are plenty about.
Deposit?I just put my name on the list in April and got mine early August. Another guy on here did the same at a later date with the same store and picked his up a couple of weeks ago.
No need to pay any deposit. You will pay over UK list though thanks to sterling taking a bath. Budget on £10k

You won't pay over UK RRP at an AD, whatever the RRP is the time the watch comes in. Rolex UK may officially raise prices in the meantime to reflect the currency fluctuation, but an AD will never ask for more than RRP.

Some ADs want a deposit, others don't. My AD asked for a deposit when I bought a Sea Dweller, but no deposit when I bought an Explorer. I had to wait a couple of months the for both.

In my original post, I suggested to the OP to use the boutique in Zurich. That way he is guaranteed to get the watch in the time scale he wants it, but he will pay the RRP in Swiss Francs, which due to the weakness of sterling, is more than the UK RRP. Thanks. Don't seem to be able to find their email address though!
Phone Bucherer Rolex on 0041 44 297 19 08. I did this on eyebeebe's suggestion 2 months ago. Spoke to Olivier who spoke perfect English. He added me to list. I sent a follow-up letter to him with full contact details just to make sure that my details were correctly recorded and to demonstrate some commitment. He wrote back straight away. So far, so good.He told me that they sell for local retail price which is circa Euro 10,500 odd - obs the £ equivalent is getting more expesive by the day as Sterling dives but still miles cheaper than UK grey/usued market and it'll be new with new with my name on the paperwork. Worth the wait and the £50 airfare.
I reckon it'll be on my wrist before summer next year.

Just checked my notes, what he actually said was 11,800 Swiss Francs - not Euros, and not 10,500.
That is the correct price in CHF. From memory it is a CHF 300 increase over the old Daytona. With the pound where it is, I'd wager that the UK is the cheapest place to get one at RRP right now - if you could find one
