I'm currently looking to buy a brand new Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea 116660 (rrp £7,070) and have been informed by the authorised dealer - a place where I've bought quite a few watches many of them Rolex, including a new SS Daytona - that they're not allowed to discount Rolex Sport models.

This despite it being widely acknowledged that there's a significant markup on such watches: http://www.quora.com/What-is-the-cost-of-a-Rolex-f...

Given that the SDDS hasn't been a massive success, are AD's allowed to discount?

Cheers for the replies.

The dealer has sourced a DSSD for me at rrp (£7,070) but is offering 3 years 0% credit. I'm going to have a look at the wach tomorrow but am still not convinced the above offering is a goer.

The watch was sourced. It wasn't in the AD's interests to withhold for a few days a watch easily at their disposal.

The DSSD is said to be quite popular in this area, with all selling within days of arriving at the AD. Bi-metals and GMT II's are not as popular and readily available.

I bought brand new today. The watch is heavy - feels almost twice as heavy as my PAM 111.

Not allowed to touch the watch until my birthday in 3 weeks time. Ho hum...

Congratulations. Wear it and enjoy it in good health.
New is always the better option, something very satisfying about virgins rather than pre-loved !
Agreed. On this occasion pre-owned wasn't an option smile

Zero discount on the DSSD, but did get 0% finance over 3 years (20% deposit).
