Why so cheap when Vesuvius said he could get £3,000 for one anywhere. He even said it would only take ten minutes.

...my price is a bargain (but FIRM), I admit - I need a quick sale as I have my eye on one of the new GMT's.

Any purchaser is welcome to have the watch verified as authentic at the Rolex Service Centre in St James, prior to handing over the readies!

Are these forums now available for anybody wanting to hawk things?

Best not to use them otherwise somebody puts something like the green bezel version is horrid and that price is more than a proper original black bezeled new one

...ahhh...but the standard submariner doesn't have the gorgeous, retro, maxi-dial. Greatly improves the look and the readability of the watch in poor light conditions. The Green bezel also makes it more distinctive than the old one.

Is the 'maxi dial' just the larger luminous hour markers?

...I'll try and find a pic of the two watches side by side and you'll see for yourself. Larger luminous hour markers and a thicker minute hand as well. Makes a big difference to the look of the watch.

O.K. - the green bezel is an acquired taste, but it grows on you. And if it doesn't, the bezel can be swapped out quite easily (by a watchmaker!) for a black bezel. I've seen this done and it looks good!

TBH I think we should be able to sell watches here, the classifieds are crap.

Good idea - why not turn the discussion forums in to a million classified ads for old beds, used cars and general household tat as well?

Bennno

...errrr...no....just for watches. - coz we're special!

Other specialist forums like scale models or photography have people selling stuff to each other.

Perhaps the 'adverts' are more subtle than 16610LVs for sale post but then that's Rolex owners for you. hehe

...Porsche owner too!! Double whammy!

Wanted and for sale threads should go in the classifieds. if there isnt a section then request one to be created. I imagine ebay would be better though.

What next lonely heart ads and 'business companion' threads

Bennno

What a bloody hypocrite.

...yep - I think Benno is a mod. Well, talk about absolute power corrupting absolutely / Animal Farm, and all that!

I do understand that these forums can't become a string of 'for sale' and 'wanted' ads, but a little bit of common sense and reasonableness would be welcome. Especially in a niche forum such as this one.

...so anyway, who wants (and would be prepared to pay for!) my Submariner then?
