Hey Guys,

Sorry to start another of these threads, but I'm after some guidance...

Mum and Dad have kindly offered to buy me a watch for my 21st birthday, which is at the end of the month. I've been looking around, and the criteria are:

  • Budget of under £500
  • Ideally Black/Black face, think they look smarter, open to suggestions though!
  • not too blingy, like aviator features and such.
As an example, I quite like the Citizen Stiletto:

But when I tried it on, it was a bit too thin on my wrist, didn't feel chunky enough.

I'm looking at Seiko (the sportura range), and as an example of what I like (but is far too expensive!)

Oris TT Black Chronograph

Also, I like the look of Omega Seamasters, TAG Monaco's etc.

Can anyone suggest anything in my price range? I'm not overly fussed on brand, open to suggestions!

Thanks,
Mr.Jimbo

I really quite like the C600, had seen it, forgot to mention! But I really quite like it, apart from the strap, would prefer a metal one, maybe I'm just not keen on that particular rubber design.

Could you swap it for a black leather one perhaps? (after purchasing, obviously)

Also - can't decide if I prefer green and black or the blue, both are very smart smile

The traser looks good, prefer the CW one though...

Also - forgive my silly question - I don't know much about these things, What does automatic actually refer to? I also assume the light sources on these are always glowing away, not a push button light up thing, right?

that is fascinating, thanks for the info smile I assumed that only things labelled as "kinetic" etc, were like the kind you mentioned, the jeweller when I tried on the Citizen mentioned it was solar powered, which is pretty cool smile

Really like the Christopher Ward C600, are they online only?

Asked Dad, he actually has a Christopher Ward, I knew I knew the name from somewhere laugh so I've got faith in the guarantee, I think he sent one back in return for his smile

Really liking the C600, its top of the list at the moment, can't decide if I prefer blue or green though! idea

Those Oris are nice, but I think I only really liked it in solid black (typical - priciest!), they are very nice watches mind smile
