Soon to be swapped for something with a bit more power.
A supercharged MX5.
Out of interest, what prompted the decision to buy another one rather than supercharge the current car? I'm getting itchy feet with my current car and fancy something with a proper hood and some luggage space again and I'm pondering a return to MX'dom, but I think it'd have to be a blower this time too.A supercharged MX5.
Hi Chris,
Essentially I roughly worked out how much it would cost me to get my car to the standard I wanted it - supercharger, decent ECU, new suspension all-round, uprated brakes and clutch etc, plus cosmetic repairs and a full rust-proofing.
I reckon at least £3k for all of that (very little of which I am sad to say I would be able to do myself).
Then I factored in time, travel to get these things done plus the fact it is my only car.
It just seemed easier to me to sell it and pay less than £3k in difference to get a car with most, if not all, of those things done.
I love the MX5 and I would dearly love to make mine a keeper. But there are too many compromises.
HTH!

I must admit I'm quite tempted to go back to an MX5. I'd forgotten how frustrating it was to drive a really minimalist car (like my current track toy) on the road and I'm quite tempted to revert to something with a decent hood and a boot. Right now I reckon it'd be a choice between a TVR V8S or a supercharged MX5, but I should probably give the Caterham a little longer to persuade me otherwise now spring appears to be returning!Gassing Station | Herts, Beds, Bucks & Cambs | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
