The "Bare Necessities" ?
Interesting.
They have been touting / using as a Corporate charter vessel on the South Coast for a few Years AFAIK.
Am guessing the business model sunk ?
Was featured on some ITV Programme too a while back IIRC http://www.itv.com/lifestyle/peopleandplaces/allat...

That is a serious amount of Dollars for a 8yr old though. One which has had a harder life than most I would suspect too......
on the contrary... in comparison with many privately-owned yachts of a similar ilk, this one has been VERY well looked after. the owner is not shallow in his pockets and the charter of the yacht (which has proven to be very successful on the corporate circuit) has helped to offset the running costs.
the skipper is an old colleague of mine and he is one of the most fastidious yacht captains i have ever met.

Damn, must have been a weak mobile signal TBH something tells me that a £2.8m impulse buy would upset mrsblue and my bank! She also wouldn't fit on my mooring on the Hamble, oh and also I am a bit too poor
Still, now I know what to save for. gives me more incentive for my next development. I think a boat with a mast that matches my Tuscan's paint would be cool

She's been up for sale for a while as well I think. Is there something wrong with her or is turnover on these boats just exceptionally slow?
she continues to be successful in her charter role and the owner has had mixed thoughts about selling her, hence the impression that she has been for sale for a while, when she's actually been on and off the market a few times. with the 2011 season drawing to a close, now would be a good time for an interested party to make an approach. if booking for the 2012 season begin to mount up, the story may be different.
there are relatively few 'large' sailing yachts working the Solent area as the corporate market has a finite size (BIG SPIRIT which is owned by active pistonheader 'speedyellow' is one of the others, so she has done well to sit at the top of the heap.
oh, by the way... do be aware than the £2.8 million does not include the VAT, although with such numbers, if you do wish to use her privately, there are a few legitimate 'schemes' out there which could reduce your exposure by a fairly large amount.

Just a mast that matches your Tuscan's paint...your thinking way too small!TBH something tells me that a £2.8m impulse buy would upset mrsblue and my bank! She also wouldn't fit on my mooring on the Hamble, oh and also I am a bit too poor
