A few snaps from the Oz GP yesterday. Seeing the 747 up close, low and slow was a real treat. Shame it wasn't the 380. Also the F/A-18 on reheat, heading straight up to the sun. Some superb flying. A real pleasure to watch.

Pity the Sky TV reporters didn't know their aeroplanes. At one point they referred to the F-18 as one of the Red Arrows and at another point they thought it was a Tornado.

If they don't know, say nothing.

In my experience, there is a strong crossover between motor sport and aviation and quite a few people are knowledgeable about both. As a professional - why can't they just do their homework. You only have to look at the postings on this forum to see that there are people on here knowledgeable about both subjects.

Raymond Baxter never had any such problems.

The retort doesn't make sense.

If there were any aircraft enthusiast programmes on mainstreamTV (like there used to be or currently are on channels like Discovery Turbo) I have found the presenters on the whole to be knowledgeable and intelligent.

Do You mean like the experts that named all the Aircraft for the writers of TopGun?

wink

Eric, everybody by now knows you don't like Sky\Murdoch, so for goodness sake stop the petty snipping. People make mistakes, even people who don't work for Sky!

If it was some other broadcaster I would have said the same thing - as I have done on other occasions when reporters have been talking through their bottoms.

Morons - Year I was there it was an F-111. Magnificant.

Sure did, this was in 1999 when they were still in service.

Despite having a design of over 40 years old, it still looks brilliant.

I never thought to look on Flight Radar. Thanks for posting that. Though it does seem to have performed its display somewhat north east of the circuit.

That's the aircraft holding before the display. The display itself happened after the screen grab posted above and isn't shown in the picture. hehe

I think the playback cuts out some of the tracking points as when I saw it live, the holds NE of the circuit were nice racetrack shapes and the display over Albert Park was shown very accurately.

The screenshot was taken at the time of the GP build up, approx. 05.55. The plane is over Albert Park.
