If you like your woodwork shiny and have 530,000 foreign thingies to spare...

Not quite sure how the 'V-shaped berth inside the forepeak' works though.

Fabulous thing.....http://www.classic-yachts.de/sales/details/241/
Such a shame it's been modernised though......I'd have those original engines 'hot rodded' and back where they belong in a heart-beat if I had the half a mil in spare down the back of the sofa.

I don't understand, where do you keep your spare change if not down the back of the sofa?Such a shame it's been modernised though......I'd have those original engines 'hot rodded' and back where they belong in a heart-beat if I had the half a mil in spare down the back of the sofa.
I have always loved the look of the Riva Aquarama, if I had somewhere suitable to use a boat like that I could be seriously tempted by a nice shiny wooden speedboat. The wife wouldn't like it though, she gets seasick in the bath.

Then tell the captain of your yacht to engage the stabilisers whilst your wife is bathing.I have always loved the look of the Riva Aquarama, if I had somewhere suitable to use a boat like that I could be seriously tempted by a nice shiny wooden speedboat. Odd that the fitted engines are not named - but a close examination of the photo shows them to be Mercury.Simpo Two said:

Rivas are fabulous looking boats aren't they, wow.
Is their a 'poor man's' equivalent? Something with style, panache, supermodel in the forepeak, but less than 100k? Or less than 50k?
There are smaller versions like old Chris Crafts which can be had for about $50k but they are a lot smaller. I have seen a few Riva's in real life and they are quite large boats about 30-35ft I think. Is their a 'poor man's' equivalent? The chris craft equivs are much smaller.
Speedboats of the 20s-40s were fantastic shapes.

On my seemingly never ending travels to find a tub to put on the pontoon at the bottom of my garden, it was sitting outside Derek's office a few months back. It wasn't the boat I was looking at, but actually looks quite nice in the flesh. Clearly it "is what it is" to those in the know, but quite a pretty little thing to my eyes.
I once had a dream where I came across a Riva as a ‘Barn Find’ on Ebay.
It was a 99P listing and incorrectly listed in the ‘Crafts’ category.
When I found it there was less than an hour to go.
While I was trying to decide if it was for real and where I would keep it the bids started to come in and it finally sold for over £500k.
Was that a dream or a nightmare?
