Rumours about that the BBMF Lancaster made a precautionary landing back at Coningsby today due to an engine overheating.

I will ask the pilot or engineer on Tuesday. See if they can enlighten us.

Just spoke with a couple of guys who work in the same office as the Air engineer that was on board. Oil temperature high, engine shutdown in flight. Cause of issue not known yet.

Their Facebook page had an update last night stating that they believed that the oil pressure was correct and it was the instrument readings that were incorrect

A Lancaster flew over Easthampstead Park [Bracknell / Wokingham way] on Sunday about 10.30 (?) and flew back overhead about half an hour or more later. Any ideas what it was up to?

Is the Lancaster on flightradar? I know the Vulcan used to be and loads of the spitfires are now.

The BBMF website is hopeless (the Derwent flypast isn't even down on their schedule), as is their Facebook page. No information on current serviceability either.

I'll just turn up and hope for the best. It'll be a bit rubbish if they don't turn up - it'll be traffic chaos around the area.

The BBMF official page posted this on the 9th on facebook:

Wednesday 16 May Lancaster
1130 Depart CGY
1140 Scampton
1205 Derwent Valley
1245 Eye Brook Reservoir
1305 Land CGY

Their website does say flypasts aren't listed anywhere and they haven't said it won't happen....

I wonder if any other aircraft will be involved? It is after all a significant anniversary.
