ha, small world!
Even smaller ! I was in a Quad sculler going under the Road Bridge at Kingston last night as you turned from going downstream , I remarked to one of the guys I was rowing with that the last time I had seen one of those ( yours ) it had 4 extra engines and had been caught drug running !! Not suggesting for a moment that you were running anything from Hampton Court to Kingston !!!Rower
ah cool will look out for you. Kept outside my house in Thames Ditton
Question for you as a sculler, been meaning to ask one of you guys for a while... I'm very conscious of creating wash for you guys although mine is pretty clean through the water. Im also pretty conscious of speed limits
My question is, in the scenario where I'm being caught by you guys from behind, I have 2 options, slow down and make you manouvre round me through my wake OR speed up slightly which actually creates less wash for you and means you're effectively "chasing me" but in the clean flat section of water directly behind me.
Which would you prefer me to do?

There are lots of us on the water so I will give you a wave as and when I see you .
I thought you may have had a connection with those 2 New build House Boats moored just downstream from Kingston Bridge very similar in design.

Flat chat at 44kts, she burned just under 1.5 gallons / mile at £1.00 / litre (2000 marine unleaded prices).
Wasn't a cheap boat to run by any means! However our quickest cross channel trip was Lymington river mouth - Bray Harbour in Alderney in 95 minutes.....

Hi Schmalex,
At the risk of pulling this great thread off topic,,,,,,,
If you have your own boat, can you just get to France, as you say, or do you need some customs, immigration stuff?
Like, can you just land on a French beach, and enjoy a day there, then back again?
Craft dependent of course.
