Conversely, I’d have all rotary air assets as part of the RAF. Lynx, AH the lot. That way the Army can concentrate on soldiering and the Air Force on flying. Likewise with carrier aircraft, join the RAF in the full knowledge that regular tours would be on board a flat top.
Fully integrated.
I think that's great until you look at the practicalities of additional CoC and potential C4i compatibility issues of your CAS, airlift and infantry.
Rotary is controlled by JHC (Joint Helicopter Command) at Andover, the CO rotates across the services but very much army orientated.

Yep, realise that. But JHC works like that partly because all 3 forces have a stake in it. Moving all rotary to air force would upset that balance.

I didn't declare it hasn't been fixed, although I doubt much of it has. I asked a question. Thanks for your insider knowledge, Vice Air Marshall.
Can I ask PC Plod, is it your professional opinion that you doubt it's been fixed or is it because your neighbour hasn't been told in his retirement WhatsApp group?
PC Plod ? A derogatory term and rather unnecessary don't you think ? It is also inaccurate concerning my rank but I think you're out of ammo here.
Not sure about the Lieutenant Commander's WhatsApp group. I can ask and pass the info if you like. See you on the park bench at midday. Have you still got the newspaper with the eye holes cut out ? I'll bring the usual plain brown envelope. Beware of possible foreign operatives. You know the drill.

Redders, is not not possible for you to participate in a thread without ruining it with your abusive posting style?
There are lots of well informed posters on these threads, some of whom have shared valuable insights. You just seem to regurgitate old news and recycled opinions of a fairly low ranking, now retired naval officer. I don't think anyone is saying that the F35 is the full package yet. Many doubt if it will ever achieve the goals that were set for it. (which were undoubtedly ambitious), but equally it's not a complete pile of tutt, and it can only get better as the complex fixes and updates are implemented. The media loves to bang on about issues as if they are insurmountable, and you seem very eager to take what you read as gospel. People on here who have been involved in the project, or at least have more up to date knowledge of it are not agreeing with you. Who to believe? The Daily XXXXX or the guys at (or near) the sharp end.......?

Who on here is at the sharp end, my dear Andrew ?
I'm happy to be educated. I posed a few questions.
Still waiting for the answers.
I hope the F35 works out and I understand that given the nature of the beast problems are inevitable.
Some of the flaws appear a bit silly and avoidable though.
With that in mind, I don't hold that much hope for the aircraft and that seems to irritate some people.
Perhaps you should check who started the personal jibes before you have a pop, although I clearly annoy you. I'll take that as a win on this and many other threads.

I'd you're going to call someone an officer, an RAF officer to boot, then don't cry about it when you get a ribbing back laugh

I imagine eurofighter wasn’t much different in its early years. Also if you’re using guns I’d say you have bigger issues these days.
Typhoon didn't have a gun when it entered service (or it did because it was cheaper than removing it, but there they didn't buy ammunition or train the pilots ow to use it), but pretty quickly changed that when they realised how useful the gun is for ground attack.

You don't annoy me Redders. I feel sorry for you (genuinely). Every thread you enter degenerates into an abusive slanging match. Ask yourself why that might be? And no, it's not because of your insightful questioning, or the insecurities of others. It's because you're a rather sad, small minded ex copper who's clearly a very angry man underneath it all. it's not hard to see where the abuse starts. Have a look in the mirror.

Thank you for your assessment of my contributions to this forum.
Regrettably for you and thankfully for me all of your opinions/ statements are inaccurate.

Ask yourself who is launching a personal attack here.
I shall refrain from doing the same and be the bigger man, other than adding that of all of the posters on here you are certainly one of the most odious.
We will never see eye to eye but shall we get back to the F35 ?

Is English your first language ? Try again, I'm sure there's a message in there somewhere.

Correct, the RAF had a gun because designing and certifying ballast was more expensive than just installing the gun.

So can the F35 fire its gun then ?
Are the pilots still forbidden from going supersonic ?

Presumably, of the 871 deficiencies with the aircraft the 2 that were fixed last year didn't include those ?

I'll try, hang on .... Nope, still don't have the foggiest what you're on about.
I've never called anyone an officer. I did ask ask for clarification of an ex-RAF officer's experience and knowledge of aircraft given that not everybody in the RAF is an expert on aviation. Eg my nephew.

Happy for banter. Not easily offended. Some people
(not you, necessarily) appear to take themselves and this forum far too seriously. The personal attacks are sometimes funny but I do think some people on here have issues. Again, not you necessarily.

Does the gun issue affect the UK? The B model has a gun pod rather than an integral gun like the A model doesn't it?

Oh, I see. Due to your garbled message I thought you were referring to Biggy over on the other thread.
We (or at least I) appear to have our wires crossed.

Perhaps you do take yourself too seriously given your reply. Like I said, I'm happy for banter but, in my experience, people who over-compensate and always want to be right are often covering up for inadequacies (or worse).

Carry on, Field Marshall
