Apologies for the grammar nazi type post, that's not me normally, but I've seen people come unstuck before at work with timings over this one!

Bi-annual is twice yearly
Biennial is once every two years

Good luck with the jobs to all you in this sector, must be tough times .
You're quite correct. I think all 40,000-odd Royal Caribbean crewmembers have been getting this one wrong for years!

There have been a few Cruise Liners parked up here in Torbay.

This was taken a few weeks ago now, and a couple have since disappeared, but they seem to come back a few days later.

There are another three or four round the headland to the left in Babbacombe Bay.

I'm in Torquay this week and ~I was about to post that there were 6 cruise liners around the Bay.
Saw one of the Marella tenders on the quayside and two cold crew members waiting for someone to ferry them back onboard.

I wonder what a cruise ship is worth today? Surely there are now far more than will ever be needed again.

With the current price in metals at an all time high they have never been worth more, lots of perfectly usable ships are being scrapped years before their natural end of life.

It's been a huge growth industry for many years. The virus has accelerated scrappage plans and made the cruise lines streamline their operations, but I am hopeful we will be back to where we were in the next 5-10 years.

I worked on Aurora. Interesting times.
I’ve been on quite a few ships but Aurora is probably still my favourite.

I'm currently sat in my cabin having my breakfast with a view of Aurora.
She's a classic design and has character that's for sure!

It was a pretty big ship in 2007, it’s just a wee dinghy now

Did they expect to be able to leave it there indefinitely and pay nothing?

Presumably the ship owners don't pay anything for mooring in Weymouth Bay?

I understand that which is why they are in Weymouth Bay. The article suggested that company had moored Tilbury then the operator had billed them accordingly and they expected it to be free?

Seems the article is behind a paywall. Who is having to pay for the port fees? The new owners? Have they actually been sold?

Isn't that about CMV, who went in to administration?

I got the impression it's the creditors other than Tilbury who are not very happy

Seems like even more there now?

“ In the recent storms the cruise ships weighed anchor and all departed from Torbay and Babbacombe Bay at the end of last week as the South Devon coast took a battering. But they began to slowly return on Monday and today there were six: Marella Explorer, Marella Explorer 2, Arcadia, Oosterdam, Zaandam and Eurodam.”

The most I saw at one time in the bay was 7. I think there have been occasions where there were a few more than that. Occasionally one goes alongside in Portland harbour too. I haven't been as far as Weymouth in this current lockdown though.

The boats seem to leave Weymouth Bay when there's a storm and move around to the Devon side of Lyme Bay, then come back when the weather clears up.

They played their part in the last Remembrance Sunday, when instead of the usual 11am maroon being fired at the harbour side,
all the cruise ships in the bay and off Babbacombe sounded their fog horns together.
